The one I had custom built and professionally built in San Diego with powder coated steel and Sunbrella shade (see picture in previous post from a few minutes ago) and installed with 6 inch lags into concrete with epoxy is 13' x 20'. Was $6k total for manufacture and install. What you got quoted is very expensive.

Mine stays out all the time and is parked in front of the garage. I've had it now for about tree months and recorded about 2400 miles. I had both PPF and Ceramic Solution applied, also. The Ceramic Solution really surprised me at how well it causes water from the rain to encapsulate dirt and pollen, and sluff it right off the surface of the truck.

The technician that put on the ceramic told me it should be good for about 6-years. But I didn't tell him I planned on keeping the truck outside not in the garage, as well as, running it through touchless car washes. I could get a couple years of wear maybe with those custom finishes? If, so, I'm good with that. If need be, I could always apply more Ceramic at a later time as needed.

What I keep reminding myself is that it's just a truck, although the best one I think I've ever experienced. And, other than that, it's all part of the Adventure, right?

I am in San Diego. After 10 years of my F-150 sitting in my parking pad, the paint on the hood starting peeling away. Looked like crap. I cant fit my R1T in the garage either but I had a carport built with powder-coated steel and a sunbrella shade. Looks good and works great. But I live behind a private gate and nobody can see it. I imagine it might look awkward on an exposed neighborhood driveway. The pre-fab cheap carports look like crap. I had mine custom built and installed. It even has a roll down front that can block the low winter south sun.

Looks great! Did you go with a company that worked on these specifically? or a general contractor?

It is an awning company that specializes in...........well........awnings. We had them install 2 power retractable awnings over our front and rear decks and they did a great job so we had them bid out the fixed carport which they also did a great job on. Local company. Family owned. Tipped the installers well and they were happy and took their time and did everything right.

Mine has never been in a garage and has been washed once in the last 2500 miles. Looks like a truck.
Sounds like how I keep my trucks. I didn't wash my Tundra for 3 years. Finally detailed it, myself, after that period of time. One boys' trip to Lake Powell and, upon return, it looked the same as before I detailed it, inside and out. Let a truck be a truck.

Edit: I do wash the undercarriage on my rides since we use A LOT of salt here in UT. We have plenty to spare...

I installed a carport (cheapo awning-ish aluminum cover from Home Depot that can handle occasional snow load, and helpfully caught a tree for me already this fall…).

I’m not concerned about the elements but I abut city land with hella trees that love to drip sap, larvae, branches, and all kinds of nasty crap (very active raccoon and squirrel populations…), all of which will ruin your day pretty fast. No issues after that.

do NOT go to any shop selling cersmic coating. It is inferior to ceramic coating. We regret the error
Better yet, do NOT waste your money on ceramic coating. Use a paint sealant like Klasse which will last a year, will survive the car wash (unlike ceramic coating) and is 20 times less expensive because it can be applied as part of a plain old detail.

The Turtle Wax spray bottle ceramic coating is cheap, easy to apply and works well at keeping the surface smooth so everything beads and wipes off easily.

I've been using it for the better part of two decades. Those Germans know how to make a good paint sealant.

That's only three days of driving. I haven't washed mine in 6500 miles... they just sent me a 30 days review email...

It’s fine, I always thought bringing vehicles inside the house was quite excessive anyways.
