Phone has a key doesn't work for me so I only use the Key Fob for everything. I don't keep the key cards on me. About a quarter of the time I unlock the truck, get in, foot on brake, and the vehicle ask me to present the key. It shows the graphic of putting the key card near the door and it won't go into "READY" state.

Two issues:

1. This does nothing when I put the key fob near the door.
2. I can only get the vehicle into "READY" state by pressing unlock and lock multiple times on the fob while in the driver seat and waving the thing around the middle of the cabin. Sometimes it recognizes quick, sometimes it takes 5 or 6 attempts.

I have never had a problem unlocking the doors with the fob. It seems to only be an issue trying to actually start the Rivian. And again, only about 1/4 of the time but its a real pain when it happens.

Would like to get your thoughts on this. Should the fob register by the door? Is there somewhere else the fob registers?

Fob doesn’t register by door, afaik. That’s only for the rfid keycards and wristband.

the whole key situation seems to be a shit show. Hopefully Rivian can fix it with software…. If not, oof!

What's the wristband? I didn't get a wristband that I'm aware of

@time Have you tried one of the reset/restart sequences yet? See R1T User Manual (as of 4/25/2022) page 195 and 196.

What's the reset suppose to do? Has that worked for people with this same issue? I've installed a software update previously. Didn't the truck get reset then? I've had since issue since day 1

I have had intermittent issues with the key fob not being able to unlock the vehicle and a restart (software, pg. 194 in the new User's Guide) seems to make it better for a few weeks.

And yes, a restart would accompany an update.

The manual mentions a 60 second time out. If you use the fob to unlock then load stuff/whatever and don't get around to starting for a minute, this could be the issue. That doesn't sound like what is happening, but just a thought.

edit: never mind, that appears to be specific to the band/key card.

Phone as a key has worked pretty flawlessly for me. Occasionally I have to make sure the app is open on my phone in order to unlock the truck. I haven't even been carrying the fob at all.

80-90% of the 'failures' of PaaK have been me failing/forgetting to start the Rivian app after a scheduled reboot of my phone...

Huh? Where did you hear it's only for Launch Edition? The website doesn't mention that... At lease not that I can find.
My guide told me that today. He was very clear that they’re only for launch edition vehicles.
