With the EV6 having a pricing range from 50k to 65k.. One could assume it would be similar to the EV9. 15kish upcharge to get to the top end package.

Going to go look at the EV9 on display at my local Kia this Saturday, and take a look at a EV6.

If the prices hold out, say a top tier EV9 is 74k... And this is supposed to be the same size as a Rivian. For the Mall Crawler Soccer Mom.. This would be a smarter buy..

It is slightly smaller than the R1S but close. At 74k it should do really well considering how many Tellurides you see around. I just wish they got the range into the mid-300s that would make it killer for most people.

Given a choice between a Telluride and an EV9, I’m not sure why most Kia buyers would pay a $20k premium to get an EV9.

Kia is going to face the same dilemma that Ford is facing with their F150s. Most consumers, if given a choice of very near comparable ICE car, will choose the ICE version because it’s so much cheaper.

This would be a different situation if Kia got rid of the Telluride option

That’s a nice price. But, it’s important to note you get more than 25% more in-cabin storage space in the R1S, and our frunks are 6x larger in volume!! Plus, starting at only 223 miles of range!?!

I’m curious to check out how comfortable the interior is in all 3 rows on the EV9 given the overall smaller dimensions.

Point if you were buying it to be green.. Which I am not.

I am looking at the Rivian for 800+/900+ HP/TQ. The Telluride is woefully underpowered, and for me, the sister car, Hyundai Palisade interior is slightly better. The EV6 looks to be well powered, will find out what the interior is like. Now the Kia isnt powered like the Rivian, but its certainly an impressive number, in a lighter vehicle.

Also, If I am honest. The Telluride's 2024 restyle doesnt look as good as the outgoing 2023

Don't forget to add the $10-15k ADM ... they were doing the same or more for the Telluride when they came out. There still may be ADMs on them as they are still pretty popular.

I would love to see Rivian bring out a stripped down Explore edition AWD (dual motor) SUV (Lite) with 225 miles of range for $69,420 and make sure the battery pack is fully eligible for the tax credit.

$74,000 would be dual motor 260 mile Standard pack explore edition

$78,000 would be dual motor 260 mile standard pack with adventure edition

$80,000 would be dual motor 340 mile large pack explore edition still eligible for half tax credit.

Additional Dealer Markup.
Ahhh yes... Market Adjustment!

Out here they pretty much have stopped doing that, and are now offering cash off, special interest, etc.

Let the 2023 recession begin.... (SMH)

I was driving next to one on I-5 northbound last Friday in Irvine (OC, CA). The vehicle had small envelope sized stickers on each door and fender panels (like inspection stickers). No camo or pixelated wrap.

Not surprised to see one there, since Kia HQ is right off I-5 and Jamboree exit in Irvine (as a side note, the same exit as Rivian, just down the street from there).

The vehicle is larger than I expected and the edges makes it look more boxy than the photos. I'm sure it will sell quite well, given the price point and the size. Also, I don't know if it has ride height adjustments but the vehicle I'd seen sat lower than R1S in Low setting (I was not in R1S at the time but looked pretty low looking up from Tesla)

Unfortunately, I didn't think to take an image since I was alone in the vehicle and traffic was moving but heavy.

I think this is great! It's not cheap, but people certainly might balk at the current price of a Rivian. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Hyundai and Kia have stepped it up and are knocking it out of the park.

It's not going to be supercar fast like the R1, but I bet it's still going to be a blast for people who are coming from similar ICE vehicles that just behave differently. Also, people who have been waiting for a "reasonably" priced EV after listening to clowns like us extoll the virtues of fueling up in your own garage and not paying for gas will probably jump at these. Lastly, ... I was going to write about how Kia/Hyundai have a partnership with EA for two years of free charging, but I checked and they're now giving 1,000 KWh on the EV6 (Hyundai Ioniq 5 is still two years free)... still free gas, though.

I dunno, I'd be looking at it if we didn't have the R1S and I think we could copy paste RJ's recent comment about venn diagrams and supporting all EVs in regards to this vehicle.

All that being said, the worst part of the vehicle will be the dealerships you'll have to go to in order to buy or service one.
