Here's what we know:
According to RivianTrackr, those who have put in an order for a large battery will be given the option to switch for free to large+ and with that, sooner delivery. My question for those of you waiting on a Gen 2 standard or max vehicle, does this entice you towards the Large battery?
I originally put in an order for Large, but ended up switching to max, because the gen 2 large is just totally nerfed when compared to gen 1. When I first saw the "Large +" headlines I got all excited because I thought that meant that there was a new fourth option between large and max. But when I learned that it's the same capacity as large I didn't feel like that was enticing at all to me. I think it IS marginally better, given it can charge to 100%, but that doesn't move the needle for me, personally.
Side note, LFP needs to charge to 100% regularly for the BMS to work properly. Based on personal experience, NCM batteries still benefit from the occasional 100% charge to calibrate BMS. Do we feel like there will be any issues that arise from a battery that cannot be charged to 100% And calibrated?
- Large Battery has been delayed
- Large + will not have any extra range vs Large
- Large + can be charged to 100% regularly since it's "100%" is about 77% of the Max's actual capacity
