Took delivery on Friday of our newly manufactured R1S VIN1306x. Figured I would provide an overview of the latest quality for builds rolling of the factory floor these days. Overall things don't look terrible, but a few items need to get fixed:

The good:
  • Hood alignment: Looks good, no issues
  • Charging port door alignment: almost perfect
  • Door alignment: Overall things are pretty consistent, nothing off enough to fix.
  • Doors: All close properly
  • Tailgate alignment: side to side things are perfect and square
  • Paint quality: no major issues. One very small nick and one small metal nib that was painted over near the rear light lens (mostly hidden)
  • Interior: No visual issues... all panels and materials look good.
  • Wheels: No scratches
  • So far "everything works" (lights, functions, etc)

The bad:
  • Rear tailgate does not close far enough and the top half sticks out way too far from the body panels. Delivery agent agreed.
  • Drivers side rear door had the black trim lifting near the front. Deliver Agent said they would take care of it
  • Intermittent "rattling" noise behind the main center screen. clearly something is loose back there. it is loud!
  • Small dent on rear passenger side door. (how do they manage to dent these things so much) it is small, but want it fixed)
  • A/C Noise - still trying to figure this one out. Can I hear it? yes. Is it crazy loud? No, but it isn't quiet. Without all the threads I am not sure I would have thought much about it, but I also haven't had enought really hot days to hear just how loud it might get.
  • Headliner above 3rd row is loose and not alighed. Not really sure how they attach these things... I don't see any clips.
  • Suspension "clunking" - Over speed bumps the suspension clunks a bit (sounds like a 1980's lifted Toyota 4x4). Seems to be getting quieter with more miles.. but I will have them check this one.
So... for being built at a time when they have the factory pop'ed out R1s as fast as they can for Quarter end.... it is actually in better shape than I was expecting.

Like this? The SC basically told me that's normal and they can't do anything about it (Im VIN 82xx). Currently at the SC to get paint corrected, but the '22 loaner I have now looks like it was built by a 10 year old (complete with mismatched wheels) so comparatively it appears they're slowly improving!

Fwiw, the A/C compressor is only super loud for me on very hot days and after 10+ minutes of driving. You'll know it when you hear it. Hard to miss. If you are saying it's "not bad", you haven't heard it yet.

LIke this. Seems like the latch catch needs to be moved back a bit.

I have the same lift gate sticking out thing. Along with several other panel items, interior rattling, etc. Its at service center now, been there a wk.

I have a R1T with 20s loaner now. Noticed AC is some what louder. No bouncy ride(I use snow mode in R1S, which has no bounce), also you feel less rough roads due to 20s.

I have a 5xxx VIN manufactured in early March and I too have the rattle. Mine was actually fairly good, quality-wise. It's actually been at service since the 17th for the rattle and some minor gap issues. When I spoke to the SC on Friday of last week they indicated the rattle was not the dash like we all thought. In fact they had the entire dash taken apart and still had the rattle. They still have it while trying to figure out exactly where it is coming from. Just an FYI if it is a rattle which seems like it's front center dash happening over rougher roads at lower speeds that doesn't replicate on smoother roads generally, it might be the same issue and it might not simply be a grill or dash clip that got loose like I thought it was originally. I'm hoping they can sort it out early this week, because the Nissan Frontier I have as a rental is just awful to drive.

We're 13,5XX and 4-6 weeks out on delivery...this is far worse than my 17XX R1T (early adopter) LE, which was nearly flawless, with the exception of some panel gap challenges. (sigh)

I didn't have that trim problem with my 38xx R1S build but I did have the liftgate issue (seems more do than don't). The trim issue should be an easy fix and, in my case, the liftgate/tailgate were also easily adjusted to my satisfaction within a matter of hours.

On the trucks the speaker grill will rattle up near the window. Rumor has it there’s a loose clip back up and in there near the window.

I took a small round felt pad that you stick on the bottom of a chair to protect wood floors and stuck it under the grill. No more rattle

I have the same issue. How did you remove the grill? Or did you just wedge the felt pad between the windshield and grill cover?
thx!

I didn’t remove the grill. It only took one 1/2” round chair felt piece tucked in the the front edge of the grill.

There seems to be enough room to get it under the grill and stick it to the dash (you can’t see it as it’s way down by the w
