I'm a newbie but expecting delivery soon. I'm not familiar with EVs, this will be my first. I travel often, and sometimes I'm away from home for months. I understand there's phantom battery drain. What happens if I go on vacation for three months leaving my R1T behind? Can I leave it plugged in with trickle charge keeping it charged?

I would plug it in with my standard 70% charging limit. Then go have fun.

I guess the only flaw with this plan is if the circuit breaker for the charger trips for some reason during those 3 months. Should be quite rare.

Thanks! So I assume there's an app? Or some way to set the charging limit? Just set the charge max to 70% and that's it huh? Ok, that's easy. Now, can I keep track of my vehicles battery and charging status via iPhone and app, even if I'm out of the country?

It's in the UI for the truck. You can set charging limit and schedule. For your use case I would just set a modest schedule so it tops up once a day to a set state of charge.

Thanks! May I ask who did your wrap on the truck, that's freakin' awesome!

Yes, you can use the app to keep an eye on the battery level. You can also cycle the windows and open/close the frunk at least once per day to keep the car exercised while you're away. (It is best if it has other Rivians to play with, but that's not always possible).

I face a similiar dilemma when I leave my T alone for the summer.
Here's what Rivian suggests

-Set on Shipping Mode (that will put in lowest energy usage )
-Keep plugged in
-Set to 80%

I did this for the first time last year and had zero issues over 4 months.

Well I left mine at the Beach, set the charge level to 50% and plugged in to the portable charger. I even went into the charge screen and set the amperage to 18 (vs 48) since the circuit breaker was 20 amp and a few days after i left it there it stopped charging stating "Vehicle error" "unplug and plug in again".

Any thoughts on what i did wrong? I'm getting very little vampire drain, and it's only gone from the 150 miles down to 141 miles in two weeks. It charged fine up to the 50% and then i think something happened when it dropped below that and the truck tried to start up again. Will be back there before it taps out, but would like to make sure i resolve the circuit breaker issue before hurricane season kicks in as i'll need to charge up well before a storm comes close to the NC coast in order to get inland far enough. Won't make it back to Charlotte on 50% charge.

OP-I went out of the country last week. First time leaving the Rivian. I set the charge at 70% and I lost about 1% per day. I didn't plug it in because I was only gone for a week. I have a neighbour and family nearby that could come over and plug it in, in a pinch. I also turned off the security monitoring system to minimise battery use. Lots of good advice here.

I left R1S in the garage set for 70% & plugged in with Rivian wall charger, both appearing on the app.
After 5 weeks, the app said Charger was "offline", and 1% per day drain began.
a friend stopped by and although the circuit breaker had not popped, he cycled it and everything returned to normal.

For three months, I'd disconnect the ground lead on the 12V battery but I guess it depends if you have a garage. Mine loses 1% per day. I think shipping mode only turns off things in total that you can turn off in other settings and it will still drain. I haven't tried shipping mode lately though.

Fantastic. It’s comforting to know firsthand that someone else tried this and succeeded. Thanks for sharing!

Do you have any more info on Shipping Mode?

Just got back from 8 day vacation. First time I’ve left for more than two days. Went from 70% to 52% when I returned.
