Hey Rivian Owners, I just got my R1S delivered on Saturday at the Costa Mesa Service Center. The experience was subpar. The car came dirty. There was dark smudges inside, and when I had mentioned it, they gave me Lysol wipes to clean up after myself. There was also a ton of dried leaves inside the vehicle. It’s almost as if they park the car under a tree with the windows open, but the issue is that it’s almost impossible to remove the dry leaves from underneath the window buttons. For a brand new vehicle, it was not delivered clean.

We felt rushed and being the last appointment of the day, it was getting dark so didn’t get everything we needed addressed. The next day, we noticed a small dent in the rear panel of the vehicle. I’ve brought this up to my guide who is deferring me to service and I’ve created a service ticket and been on the phone with the service team and the customer experience team and they have me scheduled for May 8. This is ridiculous, half a year out? Is there anything else I can do?

Use the onboard air compressor to blow the leaves out.

??‍♂ what is going on in Costa Mesa? Unacceptable for sure. You just purchased a 100k vehicle and they give you Lysol wipes and tell you to clean it yourself???

Contact your guide and tell them you want to return it for a refund since your within the 7 day return period. OR they can clean it properly as it should have been before you took delivery.

Someone definitely dropped the ball here. They need to do better!

On the dimple I doubt the service center even handles that. Can they remove that with PDR? Maybe service can just send it to a PDR specialist?

We'll see a lot more of these kinds of posts because it's year end. Huge push to get cars out the door.

I hope people buying in the next week and a half generally understand that's going to be the case but it's not like you get to choose to wait a couple days either.

Costa Mesa needs new management for sure. They've been dropping the ball lately.

so if I threaten them with the return policy, would they escalate this? I waited two years for this vehicle!

Would dropping by the center do anything? Anyone have a name I can contact by chance? Yes disappointing to say the least.

Yup....if you can avoid end of quarter pushes....also avoid scheduling service in the 3rd month of each quarter...you are least playing better odds...

Yeah but why leave the window open during or before delivery and risk it getting dirty?

Duuude, if I really say what I feel, the admin will not be happy. So, I’ll just say: “just clean it yourself.”

What if it was raining while you picked up? Blame Rivian still for not stopping Mother Nature on your day?
You don't spend this much money on a vehicle to receive it in a dirty state. Even Ford will clean and detail a $25,000 car.

I just wrote a lengthy email with pictures to customer service. Not sure it’ll do anything but I told them this needs to be addressed with Costa Mesa service delivery leadership team. I might just drop by this week to wreck havoc. Not sure they will care though.

yeah I’m thinking pdr but they need appointment to have them access it. And not replace the panel. That’s what service told me otp. But definitely not waiting until May 2024. I know they are short staffed
but I just picked up this dirty car. Take care of your customers Rivian.
