Just curious about everyone's experience who has taken their Riv to a local wheel/tires shop as far as lifting and jacking. With Rivian's unique jacking spots and notches, I assume most, if not all are prepared or equipped to lift/jack a Riv. I'm worried about damage occurring if they try to do it w/o the right gear. Please share your experiences.

Side note: I'm considering getting my 21"s powder coated and my guy said they'd have to take it to the warehouse and lift it for 4 - 5 days while they did the job since they don't have wheels that can go on the truck in the meantime. Hence, the concern about the lifting issue. Rivian didn't make these things easy.

Read the instructions, take the covers off the jacking points so the shop doesn’t break the tabs.

I know this, but thanks. I'm talking about the unique jack points that require a proprietary puck to lift it.

Pages 189-192. I suggesting printing and having in the vehicle along with the pages for transporting, pages 205-209. You can show this on the touchscreen owner's manual, but that involves having a tech sitting in the vehicle, requiring a plastic seat cover, etc.

If you have the spare and jack, it includes the puck, which last I asked, was not sold as a spare part.

I read someone complaining the jack puck they bought was not great for some reason. I plan on getting a set but haven't gone through the discovery ("due diligence") process, yet.

I don't have a spare. Rivian keeps saying "coming soon". I would need the entire truck lifted so all 4 wheels can be removed all at once for powder coating.

Yep, I got lucky with the spare but they wouldn't sell the puck. It seems to me, a manufacturer would order 20,000 to be built in a single batch to save cost and anticipate inevitable demand.

Best I can offer you is a photo of it. It's just plastic. Probably damn tough plastic, but not a billet stainless or aluminum and it doesn't remain hooked into the frame, which I prefer, but does result in having customers drive away with them attached and we have to go find them a few blocks down the street …

I just noticed that jacking with the puck is a slightly different approach:

Thanks, I ordered an aftermarket billet puck yesterday in anticipation of actually getting a spare tire. I'm heavily leaning toward my local wheel shop making me a custom full sized spare. Will be cheaper than what Rivian will charge if and when they sell spares.

You mean the jack points that are covered by plastic removable covers? I'd remove the plastic covers entirely to expose the jack spot to ensure no breakage... Cause I mean I know all shops are forthright and would report if they broke a plastic cover right. Also not many shops will have the right pucks because there are so few and far between Rivian on the road... And without the pucks it's easier with no cover in place.

I ordered 4 pucks from EV Sportline so my R1 can be lifted without having to remove the panels.

Nice. I ordered one from same company. Maybe I'll order 3 more. My truck has reinforced underbody shield. Not sure if it blocks full panel removal. Will have to get under it and see.

You get a much better deal buying all 4 at once and you get the case. I would call or open a chat with them online and see if they will send you three more and credit you the price you paid for one against the bundled price. They were very helpful when I contacted them about something else.

Cool. I actually wrote them to cancel my single order.

The o-rings don't work for the front two. There is some additional steel in that location and the o'rings aren't high enough on the puck to actually make it to the point to engage the holes. At least mine is like this and it sucks.
