Lost Crossbar key set

I've lost my cross bar keys. I visited REI and Rack Attack and tried their ring of Yakima keys and none of them worked.

It seems that Rivian originally used the standard Yakima SKS core/key sets but over the last year or so, they've adopted a new OEM designed variant of the Yakima SKS core/keys that use a different number range.

Standard Yakima SKS range: A131 - A155
Rivian specific SKS range: A156 - A180

Rack Attack somehow was able to unlock one of the cores but couldn't lock it again or unlock others. Must have had the right jiggle and got lucky.

Does anyone know if the Yakima control key will work for the Rivian-specific cores? I didn't think to try this while at REI or Rack Attack. If so, I could order the control key on Amazon and use it to remove my single unlocked core. Then I could order the same number from the Rivian Gear Shop. Or maybe Rivian service could send just the key set I need. I'm also curious if a Yakima core/key set could replace the Rivian specific core/key set in the later cross-bar models. If so, I would prefer to replace with a standard Yakima set and match the same key as my Yakima bike rack and other future Yakima accessories.

A key blank would definitely work and the core number should be labeled on the side once you pull it out.

Couldn't hurt to check with Rivian service and see if they have a set of keys.

I may give that a try. I don't have any lock picking tools. I had assumed that I would at least need some basic tools and skill to do it? would any common tools/instruments around the house get the job done?

I called Rivian earlier today and asked if they had a record of which lock core number I had. They had record of crossbar accessory purchase, but they didn't have the shipped core number on record.

You could buy a basic starter kit from Amazon for dirt cheap
A simple wave rake and tension bar is all you need

You really can use some cheap metal bits like a hairclip and paper clip like they show in the movies
Wafer locks are one step above Cheetos in terms of theft deterrence

You can find the key number on the key or on the side of the core but you need to remove the core to see it (or anyone could see it and just use that key!)

You can buy the keys on eBay cheap, you specify the number you want.

I have been trying to get a couple of more cores to replace my roof box and bike rack cores to match the roof bars, but I have a180 and it is so new there aren't any on ebay yet. I don't want to go through the hassle of the Yakima exchange program.

Updating this thread with my solution.

Since one of my 4 locks was unlocked with the lucky jiggle, I ordered a Yakima 4 lock set which included a control key from Amazon. With the control key, I was able to remove the unlocked, lock core and then I could read the lock number printed on the outside of the lock core cylinder. I then ordered a 4 lock set with that same lock number from the Rivian Gear shop for $65 (it's not possible to just order a specific key set). I was able to use the keys that came with the new matching Rivian lock core set to unlock the cross bars. Now I have a working set of keys with 4 spare lock cores.

I returned the Yakima lock set to Amazon.
