I don't have mine yet, but that does not sound normal. For most EVs, you will hear the contactors which is usual a loud click to engage the the HV battery. You should get that checked out with Rivian service.

It’s almost like it’s saying “tsk tsk tsk” to shame you or something…. What did you do? The truck knows.

It’s the “grill vents” opening and closing. It drove me nuts for a couple days until I finally took the time to figure it out. I solved it with graphite spray.

^This. I tried making an appointment with the SC. It’s a 4 month wait. Gave up and fixed it myself with a bit of lubrication.

Did the lube work? I asked them to just tell me what to buy and I’d do it myself, but they said it was more involved than that.

Add to the list.

My theory is they came lubricated, but between all the rain and washing the car it washed off. It’s been a few weeks and still quiet. There might be a better lubricant option, that’s just what I had in the garage that seemed appropriate. I chose not to use PB Blaster or WD40.

It's not because your grill vents need to be lubricated, it's because there's a wiring harness there that can be routed incorrectly and it rubs on the grill vents. A couple other guys had that happen to their trucks way in the beginning of deliveries. With the second shift starting we are going to see some of those rookie mistakes occasionally again.

It is a fairly easy fix but the lubrication is only a temp solution.

☝ It was this for me, noticed the same time my gear tunnel and tail gate started to squeak. Used the same dry lube for the tonneau (thank you RJ ?✌) and they all simmered down.

It *might* be more involved if you have a second shift build, like @Donald Stanfield says. But if it's an early or older build, probably just need to spit on it.

I noticed the exact same noise as in @Rally1's video. Thanks for sharing the fix! Anyone any idea why the grill vents have to be opening or closing at all when the truck is parked and asleep? Any way to turn this off so it doesn't drain the battery?
