These Adventure series truck deliveries may be happening for a good reason.

For clarification, I placed an early Adventure trim preorder in Dec 2019. No, I haven't got my truck yet, but I don't find it unusual or unfair to see the occasional early Adventure series preordered truck now getting delivered...even before some LE preorders?

As I understand the preorder process, Rivian accepted LE R1T Truck preorders from 2018 until Nov 2020, when LE Preorders were filled. But I also remember during the same time period, beside my own preorder, there were many others preordering Adventure and Explore series trucks.

So it makes sense that there a probably lots of other non-LE customers, like myself, who preordered a truck before someone who preordered a Launch Edition.
At least two one the scheduled ones I've seen ordered in like May 2021. ?

Based on the polls there were very few orders relatively speaking until sept 21
Link? Based on the “order number” poll I was thinking there was a fairly even buildup from Nov 2018 till the s-1 (dated 10/1/21), which showed on 48,390 pre orders as of 9/30/21. The "model" I have in mind is that the order rate picked up a little after that, due to all the press around the s-1 and IPO, but there were still a lot of orders before Sept 2021.

Could easily be wrong, interested in any data available.

9/30/21. 48390 pre orders (S-1)

12/15/21. 71,000 (q3 earnings release)

3/8/22. 83,000 pre orders (q4 release)

2020 article about the order number poll here:

I've been confused about this at times. I would add to this

-From Nov 2018 till Nov 16, 2020, your only choice was "S" or "T", (which we were told we could change later). You did not pick a trim level (LE, adventure, explore).

- The configurator opened Nov 16, 2020, initially to pre order holders only. Only then could you make the choice of LE, adventure, explore, max pack, LG, etc. Four days later, On Nov 20, 2020, Rivian closed LE preorders. Even Nov 2018 pre order holders could not choose LE after that. Pretty narrow window to choose LE.

Sold it in August thinking my R1T was close.....
I inquired on an update with my guide today. He indicated my delivery is likely to be closer to the end of June due to the current delay (for Ocean Coast) but the impacts are not yet certain. Two weeks ago I was told there was no known delay and that I was still set for delivery in my window (May/June). I know "end of June" still falls in my window, but this does not give me confidence it won't delay into July or later. Fingers crossed...

The frustration from seeing Adventures get delivered with LE's still outstanding is that one of the biggest perks of going LE was 'priority delivery'. They at least made it sound like LEs were going to be delivered or nearly all delivered before they started other trims.

That was a major selling point of going LE to me. LG is great, and the couple grand worth of free upgrades is nice too, but 95% of my choice to go LE was to get that priority delivery and hopefully get my truck sooner than my order date might have otherwise indicated.

"Selling points"? But you didn't pay a premium to get Launch Edition. In fact, you got a wheel upgrade discount. I'd say they should build Adventure and Launch concurrently deliver to whomever dropped their deposit first.

Agreed.

However their wording on priority delivery for LE was very misleading. It's clear that order number has no bearing on actual delivery per the many instances of vastly later deliveries already occurring. Which begs the question, what was the point of pre-ordering or putting a reservation down and making any sort of claims to priority? If it was actually a logistical or configuration issue, I can see them opening up orders by region or specifying that people need to take delivery at certain locations if they want the truck at a certain time, or they need to change configurations, or any number of things that did not actually occur.

I swear I am not upset in the least. Seriously.

You paid a premium by picking the Launch Edition (Adventure trim) over the Explore trim. I likely would have picked the explore trim (+ Max pack) had Rivian not made clear that LE would be built first and receive priority delivery. Many of us on the forums picked LE knowing we could always go back to explore if we wanted to, but that would give us the option of an earlier delivery. Now, two years later and several more delays, Rivian has long helped me save the extra $$ for the LE.

I'm not clear what part of them promising 'priority delivery' being a selling point is confusing for you.

I don't really care what you say. I care what Rivian said. And they said LEs would get priority over all other trims. That, to me, indicated that as near to all LEs as possible would be delivered before they moved on to Adventure trims. It, mostly, seems that is what is going on, but the few Adventure trims going out when 2 of the 3 batches of LE holders haven't gotten theirs yet feels less than stellar.

I just want a guide to actually be able to talk to and ask questions. There are multiple options I would willingly change in order to take delivery sooner, but I have nobody to talk to about it.

The fact that you already have a guide and I have a black hole, despite our order/delivery dates, is starting to grind my girders (that's a saying, right?).

Yes that is unfortunate. My guide hasn't been very generous in the information department and it takes properly worded questions from me to derive the conclusive answer. Certainly not the experience that guides were supposed to provide. It is possible they are having to tread lightly due to stock and company value issues, as to not trigger any panic situations. That, or my guide is busy helping others and only has time for simplex responses.

This is the other part of my frustration. I can't even consider making a change to config because I don't have a guide (changing config in the configurator has basically no effect at this stage. It is no guarantee to trigger a guide contact even if you do change, and asking CS to make that happen is also a non-starter). This is not the experience I expected, when I was promised I'd have a guide by last Thanksgiving (ALL LE holders were supposed to have guides at that point. Delays to delivery windows shouldn't have stopped them from getting us all guides so we'd have someone to discuss these issues with).

I'm not sure I'd bother switching at this point, but if I'd had a guide in March I very well may have.

Yeah... no guide here. Been thinking seriously about making my L.E. vehicle switch from T to S.
Rivian has stated many times we can switch models without detrimental impact to delivery.
Given that no production R1S's (non Rivian bigwig) delivered yet, I wouldn't buy that for a dollar.

When did they say that? I've been operating under the oft repeated refrain of "Any changes to your config could impact your delivery timeline" and I pair that with R1S orders are about a month or so behind R1T if you look at order vs. delivery timing. For instance folks who ordered around my time have a May - June R1T date but R1S orders around the same time are July-Sept (based on the November email).

What I have heard them say is that you won't lose your place in line, but the line for the R1T is different than the line for the R1S is the assumption I've been operating under based on the above.

There are going to be a lot of Adventure trims delivered before all the LEs are complete. They aren't going to deliver a truck to someone who is 2000 miles away from the nearest service center. Priority delivery means if you have an LE and your neighbor has an Adventure Trim, and they have the parts to build both, they will build the LE first and deliver it to you first.
