I personally prefer the R1T but this Silverado is impressive at the right price too. Proper bed length and in WT mode a 20000lb tow rating. The pass through is unique amongst competitors and this should do fairly well.

I loved my avalanche. Until the lifters went out at 100k miles.

I have 130K on my 2010, still no major issues other than the well known high oil consumption. I want it to last at least until the R1S arrives. Even then, I'm keeping it as the "beater" since I have a snow plow and other goodies on it.

Don't count out the possibility that the Chevy will figure out a way to have valve train problems on the E Silverado! ?

looking at it in the presentation, I'm honestly surprised they're calling this a Silverado and not a return of the avalanche.

Edit: with the pass through back enabled, I really don't understand why the hell they didn't call this an Avalanche!

Agree. It's clear the Avalanche had an impact on this design - which Silverado had a midgate??? And the Silverado hardcore will scream "It's not a Silverado!!!!!"

If anyone has any doubts, the midgate (at least in the Avalanche) works, doesn't leak and is the perfect compromise if you don't need the full utility of a dedicated 8 foot bed. In the Avalanche, you can put the midgate down and haul 4x8 material with the tailgate closed.

GM probably just doesn't want so damn many EV truck nameplates. If they came out with the avalanche, they'd basically have to still do a silverado. This lets them get away with only doing a single chevy truck.

I haven't. Just that with the midgate down you can fit stuff up to like 10'10" in the bed with the tailgate down.

Yeah, that's definitely a nifty feature. Unfortunately if it doesn't fit in my garage, it's not going to be an option. Rivian fits with about 14" to spare. Full-sized trucks...not so much.

I prefer something smaller as well. Even the Rivian is at the large end for me.
