I snagged a Launch Edition from the shop during the June end of quarter rush and Rivian put it on a truck to make sure I take delivery in time to report results to Wall Street. Rivian crushed their end of quarter results and the stock jumped from $15 to $25. Some folks actually paid for their vehicles with their stock or option trades. I know my down payment was partially covered thanks to $15 shares.

I absolutely love the paint and fell in love with it when I went to inspect the vehicle before delivery. The black paint has blue flakes in it and reminds me of the Rivian blue. Its downright sexy and amazing. Just polish it to a mirror and put some nice wax on it to appreciate it.

Essentially this is what I pre-ordered but last minute changed to ocean coast after Rivian decided to go with dark ash wood. I love the contrast on the black / white. I call it the piano or tuxedo edition Rivian R1S.

I was tempted to go with white on white Stormtrooper theme which I had locked as my configuration.

My family really did not want me to get another white car.

I just picked it back up from the service center today after having some of the items addressed on the due bill.

Just came back from a midnight cruise where I tested out Tidal for audio and also bed my brakes in really good from 55 mph to 5 mph about 6 times.

FYI - Tidal is amazing and well worth the cost of the subscription. I am sold for sure as long as I have the Rivian.

I am tempted to get a set of running boards but honestly I drive in Sport low or lowest and getting in is really not that hard.

I am doing tint for sure on all windows including windshield. I will hold off on roof for now to see how much difference all the other windows make.

Also plan on doing a full body wrap in gloss not stealth after paint correction and I plan to leave all the stainless / chrome / machined parts. I absolutely love the contrast and love to see all the people squirm who have an OCD for the murdered out look.

The market over-reacted just as they did (in the opposite direction) when Rivian were a few hundred short of their target last year. Q1 was around 9500 and very little EDV builds. Add 3000 for a full quarter of EDVs (to start getting to the 10k target) and you are already at 12500. Then add a bit of a ramp for R1, in this case another 1500 (or c. 18%) and you get the 14000 - I have been surprised by the share price reaction. Only thought is the stock was oversold by earlier over reactions to perceived bad news. Glad stock is back to where it was a few months ago. Hopefully the good momentum continues and the stock gets back to the days of $40.

Took both my ladies out for anniversary dinner.

One of my ladies I left her across the street from the Lucid store.

She had to flex a little while my wife and I had Italian food for dinner.

She waited patiently while we finished our meal first so she could go on her late night cruise after and all the while everyone was eyeing her / drooling over her all up and down the street.

I think she liked the attention if I’m being honest.

I’m using LinerX mat for the cargo area / hatch.

Everywhere else inside where your feet go is using the stock Rivian all weather mats.

I’m very happy with the Rivian all weather mats.

Plus I like the Rivian yellow logo.

Took her for a nice handwash / detail with ceramic sealant for exterior. It took 3 guys to knock it out in 1 hour.

Went to test the 150 kW chargers at the Chevrolet dealership who has a very nice charging setup and also plans to launch a mobile charging service next month.

They have a dog park, Corvette Cafe, restrooms and stingrays. What more do you want?

Their hours right now for EV charging is 7AM - 9 PM because those are the hours the attendants works. In 3 months they plan to switch to 24 hours but attendants will probably work the same 7 AM - 9 PM.

Their rates are extremely high. 69 cents per kWh and 55 cents with their rewards plans.

Audi E-Tron rolled up with 3% battery life 2 hours before close. I don't want to see his bill if he is paying 69 cents per kWh.

I topped it off and took the SUV for its first drive in movie theater experience with the local Rivian club.

it was nice to be able to lay down all the rear seats and setup a nice climate controlled area to lie down and eat food while waiting for the sun to go down. I would camp in the Rivian for sure.

It was a blast and hopefully more can join us once it cools down.

Next item I want to buy is an air mattress

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good air mattress for like $300??

I find the coverage is plenty for my daily needs and covers 95% of my usage. The extra coverage with the LinerX doesn't solve my issue of getting the Rivian sill plates dirty like the Husky mats. The coverage is not enough on the LinerX and instead makes it look tacky. I'll stick with the Rivian all weather mats for daily usage instead of stock Chilewich.

I would rather get an extremely heavy duty set of mats dedicated just for off-road use like the Husky over the LinerX once they're released for the R1S as well.

For the rear cargo area I do love the LinerX set and don't mind the flap at all. I see a nice benefit to having the flap when you want to slide things across the tailgate or sit on the tailgate. I just put my groceries down and throw the flap on it. I don't think my groceries mind.

One more item to add and this is a personal preference. I love love love the pedals on our vehicles and don't want to cover the dead pedal up. I am not here trying to preserve my car for the next guy.

I want to use it and enjoy it how I see fit.


The Rivian branded mats do not cover the gorgeous dead pedal and that's how I prefer it for 95% of my usage. I like a nice clean look across all three pedals.

I got my non marring lug nut socket and finally I can install the Gorilla Wheel locks I ordered.

I plan to take the wheel locks and non marring socket to Discount Tire and have them install / torque it to spec.

One item I never mentioned that is probably the best bang for buck purchase which is used daily is the center console tray. This thing seriously holds a ton of stuff for how slim it is. I can fit my keys, watch, two phones and a wallet plus some business cards or credit cards. It also holds my USB C cable in a convenient place.

MidnightRivian “June” tends to show off her dark side on a daily basis. Today for some reason she showed a split personality for a quick second in the Rivian App. I got to see her light side for once. I prefer her dark side Instead.

I got the wheel locks installed and picked up some Baskin Robbins on the way home to cool down. Even “June” needs to take it easy with the current heat wave. Even In the garage when it’s 104 degrees she’s working up a sweat and throttling herself but still chugging along with no complains.

You can’t even tell I have wheel locks unless you’re looking at it from 3 feet apart.

The non marring lugnut when used with a wireless impact gun will wobble and still bang up the lug barrels.

We found it best to use it without the nylon when using a gun.

In reality just use the nylon and do it all by hand slowly but good luck trying to convince a regular shop to do it all by hand.

That’s why you go to a performance shop who handles specialty rims when it’s time for putting on new tires.

I might take “June” on a midnight cruise tonight or tomorrow to test the new Tesla Magic Dock charger that just came online in our area.

44 degree differential between exterior and interior temps with no tint and people still need to come up excuses to justify their greed / desire to cash out.

either get a tint/windshield shade or pre-condition or do it all but don’t make excuses to justify your greed.

Installed the Abstract Ocean black silicone tow hook cover. Great fit / form / function well worth the price.

Also tested the slim Rigor non-marring socket and it works much much better than Ares.

Another nice thing with Rigor brand is the protective insert is all one piece where ares it slips off.
