Stopped by the center again on our way home from lunch. They have 3 more new R1S' on the lot.
Any white R1S? Ocean coast interior?

There are some Ocean Coast interiors in the R1Ts. I didn't see a white R1S on the lot.

I stopped by the service center to hopefully see one of the R1S’s in person for the first time. They had 7 in the lot outside! They looked beautiful. VINS were all between 500-700 so we are still pretty early. I have El Cap as my color choice right now but I might be changing my mind (again) after seeing the Limestone R1s w/ 22” chrome wheels. I was there at dusk and the vehicle looked stunning.

There were also+20 R1Ts in the lot. The highest VIN I saw was ~11,500 which was a white one.

Looking forward to mine but probably need a few thousand R1S’s delivered before we get to my spot in the line. I hope everyone enjoys their new vehicle.

I saw a Limestone one as well and it is indeed pretty. I think I’ll still stick with El Cap. I’ve been debating switching to 22s, but the range on the 21s is a huge advantage. They look pretty good without the aero caps as well.

Clearly I need to explore this site more thoroughly. I just found this thread and am happy to see the back and forth. I pre-ordered 5/21/2019 and had my First Drive back on June 21st. Waiting on the Maxpack so there is plenty of time to sort out colors, but I'm gonna start swinging by the SC on my way home from work to see if Limestone is as cool as people say!

Curious how far along the MN SC is with current deliveries? When I visited back in May the service manager said they had delivered ~35 trucks (WI, IA, MN) so far. Seems like every time I've been by there, there's always 10+ R1Ts on the lot. Any 2021 reservation holders from MN get their truck yet?
I ordered Sept 2021 and received the truck in July. Adventure trim, 21” road, powered tonneau. Was told over 100 had been delivered.

We stopped at the service center today and saw a bunch of R1T and a few R1S in the lot; about 20 or so. The person who visited with us was extremely helpful and showed us both vehicles and let my wife drive the R1S a little in the parking lot. One thing he shared is that the max-pack is two years out yet, since they aren't even in production yet and they continue to have supply chain issues. He seemed pretty certain that is would be 2024. We were holding out for the max-pack as well but with this knowledge we may switch.

I tow my boat or pop-up camper all over the Arrowhead from the Twin Cities. Until our charging infrastructure makes a Great Leap Forward, I’m sticking with waiting for the max pack. Or I’ll have a Silverado EV by that time. Am I alone? Is anyone with the large pack using their R1T for towing toys up north (past Duluth) and having an experience they’re willing to share? I’m all ears, please.
I also have reservations regarding the vampire drain we’re hearing about. I often leave my truck for several days at a trailhead. Can I expect that I won’t have any battery left when I get back from a week in the BWCA? Anxious to hear from MN users who might have similar likes and interests and have used their Rivian for any of these sorts of things this year. Thanks!

I doubt the max pack solves this problem.

An extra 100 miles of rated range is only 50 when towing. And if there is no charging at your destination that is 25 out and 25 back. Is your target destination less than 25 miles out of reach now?

The only solution is more/better charging locations.

If you offered to give the owner of wherever you wanted to park (or someone nearby ) a portion of the $10,000 you would spend on the max pack upgrade, would they be willing to install a level 2 charger for you to use? That would extend your effective range way more than max pack would.

Totally agree with this. For the price the max pack didn’t make sense for me anymore, the added range won’t make much difference in practice. i Switched my config from max pack to standard and got my truck in July and super happy I did. Without towing I can get 350 mile of range on a full pack.

Thanks for the replies. The numbers I massage for towing in A Better Route Planner tell me that most of the trips I take are possible with one long charging stop with the Max or two long stops with the Large pack with the current charging options north of the Twin Cities. You’re confirming that I’m better off waiting regardless of whether or not it’s for the max pack or improved charging options.
