As a data point I did a short hwy efficiency test over the weekend for the Michelin Defender M/S2. 75 mile trip on the interstate. Set cruise at 75mph, normal ride height, all purpose mode, with light rain.

Averaged 2.02 mi/Kwh.
wet road surface will increase rolling resistance and reduce vehicle efficiency.

this attached spreadsheet was posted about 6 months ago so may be a bit outdated. shows tires for Rivian sizes but no efficiency data - which is difficult to find. My experience with other vehicles indicate the M Defender LTX as excellent efficiency and can do light offroad travel such as class 1-2 4wd trails - but I do not have quantitative efficiency data. i will probably switch to D LTX M/S2 once my RIS refresh is delivered. And for serious snow/ice travel will use some M X-Ice - which I have first hand experience on my MX - excellent efficiency and snow/ice traction.

Not entirely sure. Here are some measuring stick tires.

General Grabber HTS 60 - Stock+ efficiency, Inexpensive, lightweight 34#
Pirelli Scorpion AS +3 - Stock efficiency, affordable.
Michelin Defender LTX MS/2 - Stock efficiency, 70K Warranty, great performance
Michelin Defender LTX Platinum - Stock- efficiency, 70K warranty, great AT sidewall look, pricey, heavy.
Thank you for replying and not sending OP to the Google sheet or the 20 page thread.

I am running the Pirelli AS Plus 3 tires on 20 inch rims (275/60/20) and getting range and efficiency essentially identical to the 21s. About 350 mile range/2.45 m/kmh average in mixed driving.
too baad the chain stores won't install them and i don't wanna drop off at a mom and pop spot who's never lifted a rivian

That's just a dump of the spreadsheet posted here: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...for-each-rivian-factory-wheel-diameter.19563/

I'm in Colorado on the Discount Tire site and do not see the details link you mention - to see ev range influence
Same for me for the linked tire. I even went through their Treadwell wizard. I can, however, see it for a very small number of OEM size tires.

I know this has been asked a hundred times, but here goes: do we know which is "the most efficient 20" tire"? The more I read about this, the more confused I get.

I am not interested in cost -- just the tire that will produce the longest range. The Grabber and Recon Grappler seem great, but are they more efficient than the Defender LTX? Or the Pirelli Scorpion A/S?

I suppose it's impossible to know until someone does careful tests with each tire?

There’s two 20” sizes:
34” (2022+ OEM) - 275/65R20
33” (2024+ OEM) - 275/60R20
Some 33” options match or even beat the 21” OEM efficiency (likely why it was discontinued)

33” is most efficient, any tire ~41-42 pounds or less should be high efficiency.

34” - So far I don’t believe there are any 34” diameter tires that match or beat OEM efficiency (there is pretty limited testing data).
