I use the FOB almost exclusively. I don't want to have to get out my phone and open the app to lock/unlock the truck, I have proximity locking disabled as I find it completely useless, my truck would be unlocked 90% of the time as the range is way too far for my situation. So I manually lock/unlock with the fob like I've done for years. Oh, and I have the buttons memorized. So black on black doesn't bother me anymore.

Strange. I don't have a single issue at all. It works perfectly.

hmm I picked up my 2024 S on dec 27, but my key fob is all black buttons. I don't even carry it tho, use PAAK, so it doesnt bother me.

To figure out transition timeframe to the revised fob, instead of comparng delivery dates, you all should be looking at production month/year, just under the QR code at the upper right hand corner of the silver label affixed to the driver's door jamb.

If you haven't tried PAAK proximity since your delivery, it's much improved through several OTAs. To me, and at current state of PAAK, the fob is next to useless.

I painted mine silver with a paint pen, but that's nice. I'd pay money for that.

The biggest fob issue is the spring in the clip is weak and I’ve lost the fob before. That’s a panic inducing thing.

I think the FOB is nice to have for valet drivers--in the two instances I've handed them the card, both times they've been confused looking for the touch spot when trying to unlock the door, despite the hieroglyphics on the card. Nonetheless, I never use mine and leave it on the hook at home.

How close are you? I park in my garage and when I close the entry door the truck locks. Like literally 3 feet away. It unlocks when I open the door for the garage.

If I walk past the door into my laundry room it does not unlock it requires opening the door.

I'm blown away at how good it works but others seem to have major issues. I'm using a pixel 6

Most of the time at home. Probably 10-20 ft. I park outside pulled up to the garage door. My living room is next to the garage and I’m frequently in the room above the garage. My truck would initially lock and then unlock later. Sometimes locking and unlocking as I moved around. So I just don’t trust it.

I snapped up a "Dollar Green" one and have been super happy with how small it makes the fob. I never used the fob before but this makes it much more pocketable.

Ooo those are nice, I hadn't seen those before. However they also made it symmetrical like the carabiner

I picked us a 2024 R1S, VIN 031xyz and key fob was black. Maybe the changeover at 032xyz?
