Rivian sent us the NACS to CCS adapter for Gen 1 so we can charge at Tesla stations. Will this also work at home or level 2 chargers? CCS just has the bottom section but wondering if it’ll work at a friends house who has a level 2 Tesla Charger

Yes that's correct. J1772 is what you're looking for. Although I can't vouch for any particular adapters.

Just to clarify, the rivian adapter is wired for DC only. So don't attempt to use it on any AC charger (level 1 or 2).

The price looks very attractive, @irvineboy, but "EVDance" is not a well-recognized brand of NACS to J-1772 adapter, Remember the risks if it overheats -- adapters can start fires. Amazon vendors' return policies often leave a lot to be desired.

The brands that seem to stand behind their work are more expensive. My favorite is TeslaTap (https://www.umc-j1772.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=17), which is assembled in USA with excellent customer service. Also reputable are A2Z adapters and Lectron adapters.

I hope this helps!

The only three brands / model I would buy is A2Z Stellar, UMC TeslaTap or Lectron J-1772

I personally bought the 48 amp Lectron and gave it away to a forum member and prefer to use the 80 amp A2Z Stellar with built in lock and compact design.

I would recommend sticking with known brands like Lectron, A2Z and TeslaTap

I would recommend the A2Z Stellar NACS to J-1772 adapter which is available for $72 with flash sale going on right now. It’s got a compact build, 80 AMP capability, a built in lock, good customer service / warranty and overbuilt for futureproofing.

This adapter is used with Tesla home chargers and destination chargers commonly found at hotels / shopping center / parking lots.

The level 2 Stellar adapter will pay for itself overtime by avoiding an expensive fast charge on the road every night while you sleep at the hotel with Tesla destination charging.

You can use the same Tesla Find Us link to locate Tesla Level 2 destination chargers.

A2Z EV has a sale going on right now for NACS to CCS1 adapters ($170 to $127.50) / A2Z EV Stellar NACS to J-1772 AC Level 2 Adapter ($95 to $72) after discount code to save 25% off and get free shipping. The coupon also applies to AC J-1772 extension cords and AC - NACS extension cords ($165 to $124)

Click the link to chose your below products and stack the temporary code "FLASHSPRING" to save 25%.

A2Z Stellar Adapter NACS to J-1772 for Destination and Home charging. This adapter literally pays for itself

Tesla Find Us Superchargers available with adapter / Magicdock location Chargers

Here is a good example of 10+ free level 2 AC Tesla destination chargers 8 kW - 16kW charging available at a grocery store only if you have an adapter. This is commonly found at malls, shopping center, movie theaters, etc.

The Rivian you see is using DCFC level 3 with an adapter

I picked up my L2 adapter at Home Depot (or maybe it was Lowe’s) and I want to say it was less than $150 and it has served me well. It is a Lectron.

Why are you trying to get the cheapest adapter for your expensive BEV?

As others have posted, get a well known quality product and don't risk damaging your truck. And be careful what you buy on Amazon as it could be counterfeit. I highly recommend buying from the manufacturer site.

Get the A2Z one from their web site and you will be good to go. Lectron has had some questionable products in the past, but they are probably OK if you get it from them directly. Tesla Tap is great, but again go to their web site and buy directly.
