On a long drive with Waze i can review available routes half way through my drive to compare routes again, as conditions can change. Is there a Rivian nav option for this? Other than canceling and rerouting? I haven’t found one

I haven't seen one yet either. But several times over the past 2 days, I have had Waze and Rivian navigation running side by side and the RN offered me route update options faster (sometimes by several minutes) than Waze. All were offered to save time due to evolving traffic issues. And Waze offered the same options. They both get information via Google AFAIK.
So I feel pretty good about the current state of RN in my vehicle.

I just had my Rivian Nav dynamically reroute me on Wednesday. This was the first time I've seen it do it.

I also noted, for the first time, that the initial route it picked, there was a display on the screen that said something like "the route was selected for EV efficiency".

I'm also hearing directions like "turn right at the second stop sign" and "stay in the second lane from the left". I don't remember it previously providing this level of detail in the directions. I was assuming there has been some recent backend updates.

Does it ask you if you want to accept the suggested new route?

Yes, there was a pop-up on the screen that said a quicker route was identified and asked me if I wanted to accept it. There was no audible alert that I heard, I just noticed the screen changed. There was a countdown timer to accept the new route. I'm not sure what it would have done had I not responded before the timer ended, but I believe it would have defaulted to the new route.

On long trips I have the EVPlay box running Waze on the main infotainment screen but I put our destination in the Rivian nav as well (and keep the Rivian nav displayed on the driver's screen). It makes it really easy to compare the two. It's also much easier than telling my wife that the Rivian nav is rerouting us and that she has to immediately check Waze to confirm that I did before EVPlay.

I too am noticing fewer differences between the two nav systems, but they definitely remain at times. One thing I wish both systems did: When rerouting PLEASE tell me how much time the change will save me! I get really annoyed when I follow a reroute onto a twisting turning road that makes my passengers nauseous (they live on their phones on long trips) only to discover I saved 2 minutes. I think the other difference I've seen is that Waze seems to know that I view speed limits as "guidelines" and that I will routinely travel 10-13 MPH over the "guideline" so it always has me arriving earlier than the Rivian nav even when the routes are identical.

The other change I've noticed in my route choices with an EV is that I no longer take the route that is 20 miles longer but 5 minutes shorter. I still take the faster route if I know I won't have to charge on the trip, but if there's a charging stop involved to get to my destination I'll opt for the lower miles and a couple extra minutes because I know it means less time at a L3 charger.

This happened to me as well. When I was slow to respond, the window closed and it kept me on the current route, not the new suggestion.
