Navigation in traffic is unacceptable.

I love my R1T, but navigation when there is traffic is simply awful. I regularly check ETAs and travel time on my Rivian navigation vs. Google Maps and I see up to 2x differences. I don't understand where the Rivian navigation is getting its traffic data (or how often), but it is almost never even remotely accurate to Google Maps (which is almost always spot-on, and updates frequently). Is there any improvement on the horizon for this???

Agreed on this, I do the same thing (run Google maps to double-check Rivian nav).

It seems like the data is maybe there but laggy - it's not uncommon for me to see the same thing you're seeing (Google showing traffic that Rivian isn't) but I'm still "on the best route", and then once I'm up to my neck in traffic, all of a sudden the Rivian nav fills up with orange and red lines and the ETA adjusts to resemble Google's.

I've been putting this in the "it'll get addressed by Rivian someday" bucket, and will probably endure it for another 6-9 months before I start to get increasingly agitated.

Yep....I can't ever see a red line in traffic until I'm trapped in it.

Rivian uses "Mapbox" data.

If I am going somewhere that I am not familiar with, I use Apple Maps from my phone because it connects to my watch and as I am driving, it will vibrate when I am coming up to the next direction (left turn, right turn, new freeway). I do use Waze sometimes but my commute is the same every week and after driving it for over 10 years in all situations (holidays, weather, construction etc), I know what to expect.

For example, the Thanksgiving before the pandemic I worked on that Wednesday in the office. Normally it takes 3 hours to get home (I work 145 miles from home.....I stay locally M-W), on that holiday week, it took me 6 hours to get home. Sometimes I just stop for a cup of coffee or food.

I would love to see Rivian swallow their pride and get CP or AA, but I don't see that happening for a long time.
