Just picked up my R1T this week. I had an electrician come out and install a 14-50 NEMA because the initial truck I was buying (used) was providing me with a Wall Charger and then mentioned he would need it for a few weeks after I bought the truck. I went with the 14-50 NEMA to use the portable charger until he was ready to give me his wall charger. that deal fell through and I ended up taking advantage of the 23 Leases. I also bought a wall charger so I can have a little quicker L2 option at my office.

Id like to swap out the 14-50 NEMA with the Hard Wired Wall Charger. We knew the NEMA would be temporary so we did run 6AWG wire and a 60amp breaker to run the Wall Charger at 48v. Pulled the NEMA off last night and I was confused with the wiring vs what the wall charger wants. The NEMA has 4 wires and the wall charger has 3. I have reached out to my electrician for assistance but have not heard back and thought I would see if anyone on the forum knew the correct way to connect the wall charger would be.

I believe I would simply cap the white wire (neutral) and just use the 2 hot and ground wires for the wall charger. Does this sound correct to anyone else. I have attached a photo for a quick reference. (ignore the ugly drywall patchwork, this is going to be fixed over the weekend)

Yup, exactly as you said. Cap off the Neutral since it's not used and just use the two hot and ground wires directly into the Wall Charger. Should be good to go from there

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Be sure you use a high quality, commercial NEMA 14-50. DO NOT use a standard residential version.

Brand is irrelevant if you’re not using a commercial one. The residential versions are NOT rated for continuous load and will ultimately fail, generally in spectacular fashion.

Your "electrician" is a hack. It's a code violation to wrap stranded wire around the ground screw in the back of the box.

I think @Morrow_19 was saying that he was straight hard wiring, getting away from NEMA plug. That's what I did and it works well. Good call on 6 gauge and 60A breaker.
Also, I didn't use ground fault as can trip often. If your electrician put in a breaker with GFCI, you probably need to change that out. Measure torque on your connections for code.
