Aloha,

New member of the Rivian community in Hawaii. Picked up my R1T on 3 July. I’m coming from a 2021 Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Tourismo. Although I will miss the Taycan overall, I’m really happy to have the R1T as I‘ve wanted a truck for a long time. I really missed riding higher off the ground and my back really appreciates not having to do deep knee bends to get in and out all the time :like:. My spec is the following:

- Glacier White
- 22” Sport Black Wheels
- Blackout package
- Sound and Vision (I will miss the Burmeister's)
- Ocean Coast Interior
- Tonneau Cover

I plan to do my own single stage paint correction then apply an 8-year ceramic coating. Looking forward to posting and engaging with everyone.

I named it “Space Ghost”…white paint, black trim/wheels, with the yellow accent around the emblems.

If you think paint correction is overrated then you either have a lousy detailer, have had amazing luck with factory paint, or have lower appearance standards for your vehicle than I do.

Fellow Rivian Blue here, but I couldn't disagree more with your comment on PPF being overrated and unnecessary.
I had front - only PPF for my first year of ownership, but soon realized how critical this barrier was to protecting the paint from everyday blemishes and micro scratches from cloths and various incidental.
It was expensive, but considering the cost of the vehicle, it was a small expense in protecting the paint and overall appearance.
Think long-term!
Thanks.

Totally agree, I’ve put partial or full PPF on my previous vehicles. I’ve put PPF on the very front (headlights area and below) and I did my own single stage paint correction and added the Pan the Organizer 8-year ceramic coating. I’m pretty sure that down the road I’ll wind up doing like you and just PPFing the entire vehicle.

I don't think the OP said anything about PPF.

Ceramic coatings (when done right) can really extend the protection of the paint. It adds chemical resistance, UV protection, and scratch resistance (light swirls). Also, its hydrophobic properties are much stronger and longer lasting.
Nothing wrong with waxing instead, but just know it only last weeks and doesn't really add any protection. A lot of people (like myself) would rather spend more time doing a paint correction and ceramic coating that last much longer and provides better protection.
