NFC issue & no keys work. Truck is effectively dead.

My truck was working fine last night, but noticed it wouldn't unlock with proximity when I came up to it this morning. I was able to manually unlock it in the app and hop in--but couldn't take it out of park. Tried the keyfob and the card-against-the-door options, neither of those worked. Tried hard and soft reboots. Worked with Rivian Support and they said the NFC module hadn't been getting upgrades for a few months and are towing my vehicle 300 miles to the nearest service station.

All my keys are still showing as registered. I get a bluetooth error--although Bluetooth for phone calls still works fine.

Anyone else seen anything like this? Definitely sucks that the whole car becomes inoperable with an NFC problem. :(

I guess with the NFC control module down it's not able to detect your presence - whether that's a fob, cell phone, wristband, keycard. Makes sense, but it's a bummer for sure.

Hopefully this is a pretty rare component failure and they have it in stock. Let us know how long it takes to get back to you?

Different bluetooth connection for opening/interacting with the vehicle vs starting it.

Hopefully this is a pretty rare component failure and they have it in stock. Let us know how long it takes to get back to you?
It must be rare, since I can't find anyone else on here or reddit with the same issue. Support has been great and will tow the truck away on Monday. I'll let you know when it's ready for pick up.

I have this issue currently with Gen 2. Bluetooth audio works, but PAAK and brand new FOB don't work.

Did you get this resolved? We're having a lot of issues with PAAK and key cards on our gen 2 R1s

- my phone will not proximity unlock/lock or start car. I am able to manually unlock my car via app
- key cards will not unlock car when tapping door handle. But key cards are able to start the car by tapping on center console.
- wife's phone works flawlessly with PAAK.

My guess is door sensor is dead and some kind of software bug preventing my phone from working with PAAK.

My wife has had a similar issue a couple of times. Her Gen 1 R1S will not shift to drive despite her having her phone and key card. Multiple reboots. Once I arrived, all issues were resolved. Very frustrating for her.

The Halloween software update broke my phone as key functionality and that was when I learned that there is a separate bluetooth module for infotainment (streaming, phone calls) and another one for key access (phone, fob, card). Even had it at the service center and all they could say is "its a known bug, we can't fix it but hope a future software update helps." The Nov software update fixed it.

So it is very possible for streaming to work fine, but the PAAK to not work. You might want to ask the service center to see if they can roll back the software and then try to update fully to the latest December software version.

Service claims it's the Bluetooth module in the mirror. I don't believe them. I think it's something latent in the software. I might reset the vehicle as a test.

Yes, the service center replace the driver door handle/nfc module part (gen1) and had me pick it up yesterday. Seems to be working well now.

Yes. Apparently the handle and NFC part are combined... most of the time was related to painting the handle to match my car.
