I've had these for about 6 months now and ran them at the old 51 psi max and seemed fine. Ijust lowered my tires to 48 after seeing the updates here. So what happens when a manufacturer just seems to arbitrarily change the specs after the release and doesn't notify any existing owners? Just seems like a shady practice at best or potentially dangerous at worst. I personally would have skipped these if they listed the now max of 44 psi back when I was shopping for new tires.
In the market for new tires and don't really know anything about all the specs. Why is it a bad thing the tire is rated for 44 PSI vs the original advertised 51? what makes the lower psi worse?

Main issue is the TPMS is probably going to light up because it's below the factory 48. While it's probably safe to inflate it to the max recommended or even slightly beyond to get rid of the light, I prefer being safe than sorry with my family in the car, so moved to the LT rated ones.

Not bad, just annoying to have the car warn you that you are under-pressure because vehicle software has 48 psi as the low threshold, regardless of what tires you have (even if a tire at 44 psi is structurally sound to support weight of R1).

Just to follow up, I emailed Nitto customer service to ask about the specs change and they confirmed it was an error at launch. I asked them to swap my tires to the LT and I'll cover the price difference and they agreed. They created a case number and I had to go to my local America's Tire (AT) to get it handled.

AT called the number and gave the case number but the Nitto rep couldn't see anything on their end. The AT employee gave them the specs they were asking for and also explained the situation and was told Nitto had to get the approval. Instead of making me wait for who knows how long, the AT employee just did a credit/rebuy on their side and told me they'll deal with Nitto if/when they hear back.

End of the day, I paid about $300 to get the LTs (had to pay $100 for the AT install) and I'm happy with the resolution and especially with how AT handled the process! This is why they get me and my families tire work. Now I'm just waiting for the new tires to arrive so I can swap them out. I put about 4k miles since January 2025 and my average was 1.95 m/kwh. Will be curious to see how these LT sizes do.
Got the LTs installed yesterday and pumped it up to 55 PSI. Definitely feels slightly stiffer but that's to be expected. The LTs are just as quiet as the SLs. I'll update my efficiency after I get some miles on the tires.

I no longer have my vehicle to confirm. But I purchased a set back in November of 2024. I’m pretty sure it stated max psi was 51 on the SL set I owned.

I noticed a huge difference in ride quality between 44psi and 48psi (both measured at cold).

This all makes sense now that the tires were designed for the lower psi.

I would recommend going with the Toyos over the Nitto. I wasn’t that impressed with the tire.

Checking in after about 5k miles. My lifetime average efficiency sits at 1.75 however I haul a motorcycle in the bed on most longer trips which tanks the average quite a bit. I have the Grappler G3 XL, 275/60R-20.

On my trip over the Labor Day I had pretty optimal conditions weather-wise and no bike in the back to give a better idea of the tire's efficiency. Tire pressure was 48 cold / 51-53 warm. The trip report was about the same both ways (0.01 difference):

I wanted an AT tire with snow capabilities and good road handling, and I'm pretty happy with them for my purposes. Though I have not tested them in deep snow yet.

10k miles and I'm averaging 2.1 for efficiency. Wear is still good at a little under 11/32nds. I did lower the pressure to 45 based on the posts about max PSI but don't notice any real difference.

No low pressure warning from the TPMS? I wonder what PSI is the software's threshold.

I'm at 2.08 with over 14,000 miles on these tires. Tread depth is around 10/32. That's better than my OEM Pirellis at the same mileage. Those ended up getting 42,000 miles on them before changing to the Nittos.

What was your efficiency on the Pirelli’s?

Found a great deal on these online, and Discount Tires is matching the price, so tomorrow I should be riding on 275/60R20 Nitto Terra Grappler G3's for $1096 out the door!

I am in the market for these as well. Where did you find the deal?!

Would love to get discount to match. Was that on the LT 126 tires as well?

Google. Compare prices option. Multiple results. Same way I found Black Rhino wheels for way less than usual retail price.
