I'm glad they're not doing additional holiday modes. They need to focus on the day to day user experience and not seasonal gimmicks in my opinion.

Are there lots of complaints about Tesla's Christmas mode where the voice command "HO HO HO" turns the car's avatar into santa's sleigh?

I am sure that someone has complained, but I haven't seen it and I have been as active on Tesla websites as I have been here. I don't see why Rivian would be afraid of blowback from recognizing Christmas when Tesla isn't getting any blowback for doing it?

There's sure been a kerfuffle about the Disney+ app pull and they are getting blowback from that... for just a streaming app that can be dealt with in multiple ways.

What would make more sense is if at some point in the way distant future, they allowed you to create your own "modes". Where you can configure what a person or bike look like from a list, the sounds for specific things like lock and unlock, the accent lighting colors, etc. Then it's not them doing the creation, it's the owner.

I would prefer a screeching sound when unlocking my car, like metal being dragged on the floor. You know, for Festivus.

Again, easily handled by having options for whichever holiday you celebrate. They've had a few years now to build out graphics and perfectly select the proper Pantone LED colors...

It need not be either/or it could be "and" but they're just avoiding it entirely.

I do get it, I tease about the "cowards path" but all the same I feel like this is an easy "fix" and would be fun for all holidays, but alas...
I think it would be great if they had options for everyone, but I don't see their decision not to as cowardly. People get too worked up about this stuff and too often don't care about the extra work and drama these situations cause businesses.

I will never forget the day towards the end of COVID restrictions when I got yelled at by 2 different customers: 1 because we still had a mask requirement posted on the door (we were located in a county that required it), and another because he saw a single employee walk into the lobby without his mask on.

I told them both they could calm down or go the f*ck away and never come back.

People are too easily offended

Use it, don’t use it. Up to you. The halloween mode was optional. You didn’t have to like it. I’m in for multiple modes including Christmas. Give me options and let me decide. Or don’t waste engineering effort on it at all. No modes. But doing one and punting on others seems pretty lame.

Festivus mode please: I have grievances to air

Rivian does not have a Christmas mode, but this forum does have a Festivus mode, where people air their grievances every major holiday that there are no other themes...multiple times...multiple days...for weeks at a time.

I like the Halloween theme but for now I really want them to focus on real improvements. Would be nice but can live without it.

Nope. Huge bummer. They responded to an IG message I had written about it and said "We don't have plans for any other holiday modes at this time."

Way to disappoint the kids...

They have the framework in place already with Halloween mode. It shouldn’t be starting from scratch other than imagery. Unless they didn’t establish a reusable framework.

First Christmas mode, then International Dog Day mode, then CarPlay. Where does it end? /s

Disappoint the kids? That's what parents are for. Let's just leave them to build awesome cars that are also quirky and deemed to complicated for some.

Personally I'm a Pastafarian, and we have a LOT of holidays. If Rivian is going to do Christmas, I insist that ALL of the Church of FSM holidays are celebrated as well.

Or I guess they could just go all in an let all the lights and sounds and icons be customizable so everyone can get their way ...
