I've had my R1T for 1.5 years and this has happened to me. I use my phone as my key. After an upgrade or something, my phone didn't open my car and I had to use my card. When I parked the vehicle, I just walked away as I normally do and it didn't lock since my phone synching to my car didn't work. I didn't even check. I showed back up some hours later with less battery and Spotify still playing. Now I have a tone to let me know that my truck didn't lock but it happens. A software reset fixed the issue (or I could have used the FOB or card).
Happened to me yesterday morning too. My phone was disabled, so I had to re load the Rivian app in my phone. Problem is when trying to remove and reload the app, the new app wanted an app to upload the app? It said "App needed to turn on blue tooth" It get's a bit worrisome, wondering if your truck is going to throw you under the bus. Later that day about 6 pm, I was in town and my phone would not unlock the truck again. I did my usual tapping hard on the phone screen and cursing, after 5 min. the door unlocked.
Easy on the cell glass, while easier than a visit to the SC, it still costs money.

There's a setting to have the vehicle automatically lock after two minutes when it's been unlocked. It's off by default.

I'd put my money on a seatbelt being left connected, or a dog harness plugged into the front seatbelt so the truck won't go to sleep. Something like that. ?

Side note: I went to PA today to visit my old co-workers and sure enough, on the chargers next to the front entrance, a R1T with all 4 door handles out; not lights though. It was there for awhile; but then again, he/she works there so no worries of theft.

Some of us need those faulty seats that think you are in it. Ours don’t recognize people in the seat for enabling airbags ??ā€ā™‚
This is a known problem with (I have been told) an upcoming over the air software fix. Until then I’m using gym ankle weights in the seat so it registers my 15-year-old daughter. My spouse weighs more so it’s not a problem. The only time it’s been good to weigh more!! ??

Fingers crossed on the OTA!! It’s always in the back of my mind, when on the road, always glancing at the indicator. Wondering if people who haven’t experienced it, just have full-size adults or no one in those seats. I can’t imagine it being an issue with some of our seats.
