I’ve been to the Caledonia Michigan service center a few times for this, and unfortunately they haven’t been able to sort it because the truck stops doing it when I bring it in!

Dual Max that develops a clankety sound while moving, and upon disengagement during deceleration(usually happens at 3-4 mph), illl get a very abrupt metallic CLANK that can sometimes be so severe the whole truck feels like the car behind me hit me. At freeway speeds going up a hill which engages the rear motor will THUD into and out of engagement severely.
These videos highlight the clankety sound and disengagement metallic noises. Service center is stumped. Any help would be appreciated

My dual LG performance started making the same sound this week. Earliest appointment Dec 19. Feels like the rear end is going to drop out way before then. I have started running in snow mode full-time until I can get the issue escalated

Finally got this figured out.
The last time I went in, I told them I thought there was a calibration issue - to which they replied they didn’t think so and they’d do the diagnosing.
This time they finally got it right, the issue is done….due to a….calibration issue lol

so suggest that if you’re having the same issue! It was the first time this SC had seen this issue

Agreed. It’s incredibly frustrating. For about 100 miles it felt great and had the silky/seamless feel that my loaner had. Now I’m back to a clunky feel of two axles that don’t seem aligned with each other and a metallic clanking sound from the rear

this will be my 5th visit for this issue so I opened a case with Rivian corporate and am going to tell them I don’t want the truck back unless it has a new rear motor. I’ve wasted a ton of time on this

I got a lesson in how these enduro motors work. They spin up to match wheel speed, then engage, and vice versa disengage and spin down.
I assume the calibration is between wheel speed and motor speed? But there’s also the possibility it’s between front and rear axles. I’m not sure

it makes perfect sense to me that if calibration between wheel speed and motor speed is even the slightest bit off, the engagement disengagement won’t be as smooth as possible

Wow this is exactly what I’m going through. I’ve been dealing with this for 6-8 months. I’ve taken it in 3 times for this same issue and they finally replaced the rear drive unit BUT that didn’t fix it. The clunking has returned since being replaced. I’m now pursing a lemon claim.

Also, the previous work order diagnosed it as the rear disconnect trying to engage when it wasn’t supposed to.

Were they able to fix it?

I am curious how this goes I live in the GR area and my 2022 Quad just went into turtle mode (I take my vehicle to this SC). It has been there for 2 days and is getting checked out...
