I don't even know where to start. I was getting ready to finalize my loan and out of nowhere got an email with this. Nothing from an actual person, just this generic email.

Rivian R1T R1S Order cancelled 13 days out 1000007266


I'm feeling so defeated and though it says the VIN has changed it doesn't appear I have a VIN right now. It would have been a little better to hear this from a person but most of the time they take days to over a week to respond. I supposedly have a guide but I haven't heard one thing from her since they assigned her to me.

At this point I don't even know if I'll be able to get the interior I want since they're supposed to stop making the black mountain with no wood, according to an email last fall.

Maybe those who have experienced a similar situation can give me some hope? If your order got cancelled and you got a new VIN, how long did it take to receive your Rivian? And how was the communication from Rivian?

Glad your delivery experience went well but that's not the case for everyone. Assuming your issue is my account age, a lot of us are longtime lurkers that haven't had a reason to post / create an account.

It's one thing to be ghosted by your guide when you're still in preorder but when your guide team is unresponsive as you're working on purchasing steps and suddenly you get a generic delivery cancellation with absolutely no warning or follow-up, it really sucks.

Good luck with your problem and welcome to the forum. Rivian typically has a good reason for changing the VIN. Sometimes automated systems are pretty impersonal.

It just means I don’t know about that post. I’m now trying to get an idea about how many of us have nightmares after delivery. The closest I’ve come to a Rivian nightmare was the bad security certificate with the update.

My impression is most Rivian nightmares after delivery involve body damage. I do worry about that.

My usual nightmares are I'm back at work, out of uniform and I don’t have a license. Eight years after retirement.

Ah gotchu. I'm sorry for poorly assuming what you meant. What kind of post-delivery body issues are you worried about? I've primarily seen issues relating to build and paint that weren't noticed at the time of delivery. Are there more things happening?

I have not experience it but would say try to relax. It might be for the best. If you are still issued a vin, it should come quick.
I'm trying not to freak out too much. Right now there's no VIN because this one was unassigned. Hoping it gets sorted soon, but in reading some of the threads from others it seems like their guides were proactive in communicating and my experience has been the equivalent of screaming into a black hole

Just roll with it, I’m sure for some reason the VIN you had was undeliverable, keep pinging your guide, I found requesting an appointment was the best way to connect with my guide.

For reference end of December ‘22 I was assigned a VIN, 4 or 5 days later it disappeared. Was able to meet with my guide, he told me the vehicle failed an inspection and was undeliverable. I always had ElCap with bright 22s configured, went down to the Costa Mesa SC and was able to see the ElCap with bright 22s beside a Launch Green with Dark 22s and changed my configuration. My guide was able to locate one for me, took delivery at the factory 1/26/2023, could not be happier that the initial assignment fail trough, I got a color combination I like better and was able to visit the factory.

Sometimes things seem bad and turn out well…

Accidents or hail that damages the body on any vehicle, not just Rivian, is bad news now because the cost of repair is so high, it may not be economical to repair the vehicle.

I understand your frustration when you have been patiently waiting and looking forward to it.

Why not pick one from inventory? Also, used very low miles examples are also a great deal now.

Enjoy it while it lasts because gas prices are on the rise. Once gas prices go up over $4 a gallon everyone's going to forget about how much they hate EVs and they're going to start loving them again and typical American fashion. I expect to use values to get a bump from that. The stuff going on in the Middle East appears to be affecting oil prices.

If another data point is helpful, I confirmed my config/order a month ago and have reached out to my guide several times to ask some questions, and have yet to receive a response. Disappointing. I'm pretty easy going about this and entirely understand that Rivian is still experiencing growing pains, but I'm not sure why they assign a guide and give the option to text/call if they aren't going to follow through.

I sympathize with you OP. It sounds like the lack of personal one-on-one communication explaining the status of your order is what's frustrating you the most. I get it. Hope it gets resolved soon, as I fully expect it will..... And then you'll have your truck, love it, and forget all about this mishap. :)

My case has been a little bit different. My guide usually replies to me in terms of hours or a maximum of a day (SMS, email and call!!) I changed my order when RIVIAN announced the new battery pack and they assigned the new VIN in a matter of hours. The R1T is expected to reach my service center by the end of the month. The guide has been really helpful in answering all my questions.
