Does anyone with experience with Otani tires? Looking for a lower-cost option to replace my 275/65/20s. Thanks.

I've never heard of Otani tires before. I'd be very concerned about getting accurate load index, speed rating, and efficiency information before purchasing from any budget tire brands.

What goals do you have for your tires? Do you care about keeping capable all-terrain tires installed or are you looking for an efficient all-season tire instead?

I am mostly looking for a good road tire, but all-terrain for the occasional camping trip. Load rating is important since I use my R1T for hauling heavy metal/raw materials for my business. The most so far was about 2K lbs of stainless steel on the bed. Tread life is important since the stock front Scorpions are almost bald at 25K miles.

They are a Thai tire manufacturer. Consensus on Reddit seems to be that they're OK with nothing shining or obviously against from the people that purchased them.

It is my opinion that tires are THE most important thing you buy for your car as the safety of yourself, your family and the people around you depend on them to perform. To me, it's not worth experimenting just to save a few hundred dollars.

Understand. I am a first-time truck guy. All the vehicles before were cars set up to go fast and corner hard. So, the tires definitely make a difference in cornering speed. Since the R1T Corners likes a truck, I figured I would just opt for a cheaper tire. I looked at the list one of the members put together. Any experience or info on either of these options?

Sorry, but one more question. Does anyone have any experience with Nokian One HT? It's a Finnish company and looks interesting. All season, not all terrain. But very competitive cost and only 51 lbs each.

Nokian is a well-known tire brand. Most notable for their Hakkapeliitta winter tire. As long as the load and speed ratings are suitable and the tire size is correct, the One HT will be fine. Tons of threads and discussions on tires. Look those up and see what others are picking.

I definitely understand wanting to save money on tires because they are crazy expensive, but that is one area I would not go cheap. Your Rivian has 835 HP and weighs 8000 lbs.

As a first time truck owner we can forgive you for saying it corners like a truck. If you’d ever owned a traditional truck with traditional suspension you’d realize the R1T has far more car-like handling than any other truck.

I’m not an expert on these things but the maximum payload (passengers and cargo) for an R1T is a bit under 1,800 lbs so I think if you’re hauling 2,000 lbs in the bed you are exceeding the vehicle’s capacity. While I know enough engineers that I suspect that there is a margin built in for safety, I wouldn’t count on that regularly or for long drives. I’d also keep a close eye on tire condition, tire pressures, and replacement tire load ratings. Maybe a small trailer would be a better solution for cargo that heavy?

to;dr If you’ll forgive a tired pun: tread carefully.

Guys, thanks for the input. Didn't mean to disrespect trucks, just a different world from my history of tuned GTIs, EVOs, and Audi S6. The R1T makes it up with the acceleration. Not happy about the lack of top-end. I don't drive that fast all the time, but weird to get cut off that low. But I guess the speed rating on truck tires limits most trucks.
I will make my tire selection based on what matters most to me: load rating, speed rating, weight, and lastly the cost. I would love to stay with all-terrain, but I think I can get better driving quality, tire wear, and range with all-season tires.
Regarding the total load on the bed, that 2K lbs haul was just once for a local dropoff. Most of the time, we carry only a few hundred pounds. It was crazy that the R1T wasn't phased by that weight.
