I signed PBA on 5/2 and 8 steps opened on 5/4. I was able to complete steps 1,2, and 4 but not step 3 - finance. It says unable to load taxes and fees.
My guide says it was because the truck was still on the way to the service center, and needed to complete its first round of pre delivery inspections. “That way you don't pay for a truck we cant deliver just yet, or get a loan and start paying interest before taking delivery” he says.
On 5/5 he said the finance step was open for me - but it wasn’t.
On 5/6 he said the truck had arrived and that they were working to recalculate taxes and fees.
So for now just in a holding pattern…
I thought maybe they had changed their processes to insure customers weren’t paying for vehicles that ultimately failed inspection as has been reported on the forum, but maybe in my case it’s something else.

hurm i signed PBA on 5/3 and nothing since. I wonder what's so different between each buyer at the moment, process seems to be a bit all over the place

Adding to this thread again, this time for the R1S.
Scheduled the pick up for 4/22 at 9:30AM. Completed all steps including wiring the down payment and sending lender check for the balance. On 4/21 at 1pm, received a call saying that while the R1S was being transferred from offsite secure storage to the service center it threw 2 service lights. Problem was diagnosed to be a bad front drive unit which will need to be replaced. I was told depending on parts availability, the delay could be up to 2 weeks.
So now we have fully paid for the vehicle (minus the trade-in) and will have to start loan payments in 2 weeks yet don't know when we'll get our R1S after 4 years of waiting....not ideal.

everyone needs to stop paying and insuring their Rivians until they have a confirmed pickup date, and then schedule it for the day before. There are too many things that can go awry before that point.

I apologize if this has been mentioned upthread. Can one hand over a cashier's check during actual delivery? Or is full payment required prior to delivery?

It's a flawed process and one of the things that need to change.

I did. I took a picture of the check and sent to them. I picked up at the factory. Their plaid software wouldn't work with my account. So I could wire it or do a cashier's check. They requested a picture of it and I gave it to them when I picked up the R1S.

This happened to me, when they were loading my truck onto the flatbed to deliver it (this was still when they did home deliveries) it threw a code for a rear drive unit and they had to replace my rear drive unit. I also had already paid in full. It sucks, but I'd rather they fixed it than delivered me a broken truck.

The delivery experience wasn't perfect but the truck is great, better than anything else I could have chosen. Overall I say it's worth it.

This is what my Guide emailed me in early Jan this year- my delivery day was Jan 20th 2023:

" I've checked the status of the vehicle and it is just wrapping up production. It will undergo a few safety checks, get prepped for shipping, then ship out to your local distribution center (2-3 week shipping time). Once it arrives at the local distribution center, it will then undergo final quality checks, once passed, the local team will reach out to you to coordinate an appointment based on your schedule. That said, I recommend holding off on obtaining proof of insurance with the Rivian VIN and submitting payment until your appointment it scheduled."

Yep...I paid after delivery was scheduled, just 3 days beforehand. Then, less than 24 hours before delivery, I was informed of the repairs needed. What else can you do...
