Paint Defect, Rust, What Is Going On!?

That looks exactly like the same problem my R1S had, same location. I think four cases of this now. This issue is looking more like another Rivian defect, not a one-off.
Reach out to your nearest Rivian-certified collision center and have it looked at and the paperwork started. Hope yours won't take 9 or so weeks to fix (Rivian will replace door and all the trim pieces needed.) It was the lead time to getting replacement parts from Rivian that made the repair last so long. Best wishes to you. It should all work out just fine in the end.

Mine is a 24 LA Silver so I dont think its limited to a specific color. Currently at the service center going on a week now for the repair.

What the experts at the Rivian-certified shop that fixed my R1S said is that there must have been a pinhole in the door skin. Water on window glass draining down into door started working its way through that hole and voila, paint started to bubble up.
Even though already repainted at barely 4 months old, the repair looks great; largely impossible to tell from the original door.

I took mine to the service center in Shepherdsville KY. They took it to a collision center that fixed the corrosion. Unfortunately the service center’s communication was lacking and I’m not sure how they repaired it. I know they didn’t replace the door. It looks like new but I am concerned that it may reoccur. They had it for nine days.

Did you ask how much the repair cost?
Mine was ~$10k. It took several weeks because of waiting for Rivian to provide parts.
The shop did say that one thing about Rivians is that no parts can be reused, that every piece of trim on a Rivian is a use-once and replace because they break when attempting to take them off.
I did see the repair bill sent to Rivian. It was page after page of parts, and just for a door!

No the communication was horrible but I’m not sure there were any parts involved. They did NOT replace the door. That’s what has me concerned about it reoccurring. The invoice is two pages long.

Just got updated on mine that they are replacing the door and all this time they were waiting on the new door that was just delivered Friday.

Yep. Replace, repaint, and all the myriad of trim pieces that go with it. Plus $1,500 for reinstalling PPF and badging on it, front pass. door, rear quarte panel + ceramic coating.
