Pet Mode Test - R1S vs. R2

Those really wanting back vents will use this as an argument for that, but WOW R2 does a great job of staying cool overall vs R1. R2 kept the entire vehicle very comfortable w/o back vents. Obviously, a smaller box, newer AC tech, different optimized design, changes to the glass...

Anyway -just one datapoint.

I am confused about the precooling of the vehicle comments. Jose stated that both vehicles were precooled before starting the Pet Mode to better simulate real world situations. Then he gets in the vehicles still showing over 80F, how's that cool unless I missed something? After the test, the R1 temps seemed like they hadn't moved much at all except in the very back. Very strange that row 1 and 2 were still over 80F.

I was a bit confused about that too. Where are the temperature sensors in the R1S? Because the screen readout of the temp was not anywhere near consistent with the temps on the thermometers (10+ degree difference).

In the 45-minute test, the car was saying 68 degrees, and the thermometer on the front armrest on the R1S was reading 82 degrees. I wouldn't expect that much of a swing, THAT close to the primary vents.

It seems as though the R2 readings were closer to normal, though. It's the R1S that was way high.

I let the vehicles precool for 30 minutes, then I put the thermometers in the vehicle. The thermometers were sitting in my garage prior to this.

I did a first video which ended up being invalidated. I originally had the vehicles heat soaked and a bunch of people told me that it was unrealistic as most people would have a car that was already cooled from driving before leaving their pet in it. I re-recorded the whole thing to be more accurate.

If your intent is to show a realistic test, why not keep the thermometers in the car while it precools to the temperature most people would feel comfortable at (68-70f) then put it in Pet Mode for a half hour or so to show the temp it will maintain while in use?

I'm not sure what to make of this. If I leave pet mode on at 68 degrees our entire G2 R1S is nice and cool when we return. Same if we just use the timer. We have the dynamic roof and maybe that make a noticeable difference.

We don't have the glass roof in our Sierra EV and I don't miss it a bit. Rivian should make it an option on both R1 and R2.

Something just occurred to me - I know it's still 'summer', but does anyone have any experience with Pet Mode during colder months and keeping the car interior warm? I assume that's supported? How effective is it?
