This is unacceptable to me. There is no way in hell I'm going to accept a shaking steering wheel on my $80,000 truck. My Tesla doesn't do it, my father's RAM doesn't do it, and neither does any other modern car I've had. That's a horrible excuse from Rivian if they're really saying that...
I should have used "common" instead of normal. They told me it's common, especially on the 20s. It's a known problem. It's not a wheel balance issue. I was told engineering is aware and looking into it.

The good news is you don't feel it at all, even when your hand is on the wheel. It's most noticeable when using Driver+.

I have done about 1,000 miles on the highway so far. No shudder. Smooth as silk. 21" wheels.

I've only put on 40 miles or so, but i do have some questions.

Can you control navigation volume to one level and music to another? Nav directions are too quiet, when music is at a good level. Would love to nav to be pretty loud, kinda as a wake up idiot you need to do something.

Truck pulls to the right, also the steering wheel "shutters" pretty bad around 79+, you feel it driving and if you let go you can physically see it shuttering. :-\

Alexa seems dumb as a box of rocks, but might be how I'm asking? E.g. Navigate to ABC.

Steering wheel seems really skinny and small, but will admit that the Model X is THICC so need more time. Just seems like i can't get it to a good spot where i can fully see the speed limit sign at the top of the drivers display.

Can you not change to 24hr clock?

Pretty happy currently, but can tell the software needs some work, trying to remind myself that Tesla wasn't always this good (V9 software+)
Congrats on your truck but WHERE is the picture? You gotta show us the goods brother!

When i get back home I'll get video of what it's doing, maybe grab a little "sign here" sticky to show off the shuttering.
Agree with other posters here: The shuddering is not normal at any speed. I've driven mine at 100mph with no shudder or pulling. Rivian needs to fix yours.

Alexa was messed up for me in the latest update, was near flawless before that. So, don't set your baseline on what you're experiencing now, I think it's just a bug they need to remove in the next one coming up. Signing out and back in seems to fix it for awhile, but a sleep cycle reverts back to notz being able to do just about anything.
Thanks for sharing this - I have given up on fixing Alexa, but good to know it used to work. Amazon music seems to sound better natively via the R1T's Alexa and the pretty album covers show up versus being blank with Bluetooth phone connection.

You had an illusive Compass Yellow and you were holding out on us?!

Congrats, man. That's a sharp looking R1T!

Here's the steering wheel shudder I was talking about. Also you can see how fast the truck moves to the right. :\

Hi, congrats! I have the same issue as you. Steers a bit to the right, and shudders when above 80mph. Very apparent when I take my hands off or lightly hold the steering wheel. I'm waiting for the SC appointment now. Was told by SC folks that they can't test drives above 65mph (legal speed here) so they did not observe that before it was delivered to me.

This highway is a 75 speed limit that I take all the time. :\

Sadly leaving for 4 days so will have to play with all of this when i get back. I'm pretty bummed out about the driving dynamics at highway speeds but hopefully it's just a something out of alignment or balance.
Did you get to test drive it when you picked it up?

Shuddering seems pretty normal, and is confirmed as normal by the service guys. No known fix. Veering is not normal, and you should have that looked at.

Indeed, she is. I have about a 10% success rate asking her to do things.
Disagree on the shuttering being normal. I am dropping my truck off tomorrow for service (hood creases and overall dents/defects) and I mentioned at around 75 my steering wheel will visably shake if I take my hands off as well and the service guy said that’s been a fairly common complaint he has heard but they have been able to resolve it multiple times recently so he led me to believe it’s a known issue but easily fixable. For note, my truck also slightly pulls to the right (seems to be fairly common issue)
