R1S 2023 quad motor launch edition
Hi everyone, I'm reaching out to see if you can help me with an issue I'm having with my 2023 Rivian R1S Launch Edition.

I just bought it and imported it from Miami to the Dominican Republic. I received it four or five days ago, I already have the latest update, and the app is linked to my account; everything's perfect. I love the SUV.

The only problem I'm having (and it's the main one) is that it won't charge via AC. It gets stuck in "starting" mode and won't accept the charger. DC fast charging works fine, but the AC charger just keeps thinking about starting. However, there was a moment when it did accept the charger. I got a message on the screen that said: "AC Charger disabled until serviced, use DC fast charging." So, I understand it's a software issue that's disabling it as a safety measure; it's not a hardware problem.

I've already performed a hard reset, a soft reset, and I called Rivian. Rivian tells me I have to send the SUV to Miami, but I can't because I'm in the Dominican Republic and I had a lot of trouble getting it through customs.

So I'm looking everywhere for any recommendations on how to remove the lock it has. According to the Rivian virtual assistant, it has a protection lock because I replaced the 12-volt battery with a new one (since it was dead at customs), and it's protected. I know that protection is software-based. What I want is to remove that protection, but Rivian insists I have to send it for service in Miami, and I can't send it.

Could anyone help me? I'm desperate about this and need to resolve it because I want to charge the SUV at home.

Please let me know if you have any solutions. If you have a solution and I can call you, then we can do it that way. What I need is a solution.

Thank you for your time. I'll be waiting.

Oy - that sucks. Do you get to the US often? I wonder if you walked into a service center and explained your situation if they might be able to give you some guidance.

Since your worst case scenario would be to have to bring the vehicle back to a US service center, you might be better off seeing if there's a service technician who would come to the Dominican Republic to perform a mobile service for you.

Good luck.

Not sure the 12v battery is causing the problem, but if it is you might try going into the RiDE menu, and resetting the battery and see if that resolves it?

Follow the video for a how to.

Thanx, if done this too. And no luck.

Could you describe your Level 2 charging equipment and setup? I think there's a chance this isn't a problem with the vehicle.

Can you try a different AC charger? There may be an issue with your charger.
