This dude's gotta be a Rivian plant. CarPlay for the win!My R1T has been in the service center for two weeks now so I’ve had a Jeep Wagoneer for a rental and it comes with CarPlay. After finally getting to play with and learn CarPlay, I have to say that CarPlay is a huge NO for me. I significantly prefer the maps that Rivian provides and just use Waze on my phone. And Spotify is FAR superior on the Rivian’s system than through CarPlay. I cannot wait to get my R1T back (may even check with Enterprise to see if they have an R1S in stock that I can get). So please, stop requesting that Rivian use or implement CarPlay.
Lol yea it's giving "she doesn't even go here! "Why are you so active on a forum where you’re never going to be an owner? CarPlay is never coming and you’ve incessantly regurgitated, over and over again, that it’s a deal breaker, absolute no-go for you. Go on, be free. Save me the trouble of having an aneurysm every time I try to make sense of your sensational posts.
Funny that you missed the return joke.Joke?
But GM also uses Android Automotive Services, so that third party apps can be downloaded from the Play Store. They implemented this before transitioning to elimination of CP/AA. They also use Google maps for navigation, and updates to that come independent of OTAs.Good to know. I was aware that GM - like Rivian - is using the Android Automotive operating system (not the same as Android Auto) and that they have jettisoned CP/AA in their new models.
There are handful of ignition 12V sources, look at some of the audio mod or lighting mod threads.Funny that you missed the return joke.
I think today I’ll have my final rev of the CP mount. Now I have to find an ignition on fuse, or tap the power outlet from the back. No clue how to get to that though.

Because some of us couldn't care less about text messages. Some even go so far as to dislike the interruption of having text messages read out to you.I find it hilarious how diehard people are defending a system that can't even read text messages out to you.. in 2024.
"OH WELL BUT IT.." I don't care. I want a better map app and I want to hear my text messages.
Sure, go ahead and ask them. I'll answer; I value time, and social groups, and the ability to do more by maximizing efficiency. You go now. When texting becomes a key aspect of the driving experience, it raises questions about our societal values.
Yeah you're oh so busy and important you cant take 30-40 min out of your day to not be texting other people. Give me a break.Sure, go ahead and ask them. I'll answer; I value time, and social groups, and the ability to do more by maximizing efficiency. You go now.

Correct. Some of us have jobs that require us to drive between locations, and employees/customers that communicate with us via text. Having texts read while driving can both save valuable time AND apprise us of important information as we arrive to a destination. When texting becomes a key aspect of the driving experience, it raises questions about our societal values.
I see your point – in a world where staying connected is part of many jobs, having texts read aloud can be a practical tool. My concern is more about how this dependency reflects our larger priorities as a society, especially when it comes to safety on the road. Multiple studies have found that texting or even listening to texts can be distracting while driving.Correct. 30-40 minutes? I log over 10 hours of driving, while on the clock, each week! Having texts read to me while driving saves me time, and my time is worth a lot to me.
It's also just a basic feature of cars in 2024.
