Assumption: A 2022 Quad R1S bought for pre-increase pricing is stored and never driven after delivery. Clock would be whatever was at delivery.

Would it be worth more in the future since it’s a quad and all indications are the Quads will be a lot more expensive.

IMO any mass production car/truck can’t appreciate over time... this is not an investment unless production is very limited and the car becomes an unicorn.

Well, we traded our 2022 Quad for a 2023 PDM Max yesterday. The continuous improvements Rivian has made are noticeable. The 23 is much better fit, finished, quieter, etc. We thought our 2022 was great until we drove the 2023 300 miles home. All for an amazing price

No mass market car appreciates in value, there will not be a classic auto market in the future for EVs

I think that most people consider electric cars to be disposable, like an electrical appliance. Not sure why this is, but have you seen the depreciation of Teslas?.... almost as bad as an ICE Maserati.

With that said, people buy EVs based off the technology they bring, so much like the latest and greatest LED, OLED, NanoLED TV.. etc, they are old news the day they roll off the assembly line.

I think an undriven EV would likely have significantly less value in the future since the battery will inevitably degrade over time unless the owner is extremely careful to keep it on a charge / discharge schedule that maintains battery health.

Also agree that there isn't likely to be a "classic" EV market at any point in the foreseeable future, but there may be an exception to that in discontinued vehicles that saw extremely small runs (for example, the Lordstown truck that was up for auction a few weeks back caught my eye as a potential collectible simply given how few of those ever made it into existence), but even that is probably a longshot.

TLDR; there are likely much easier & safer ways to get a long-term return on $75k to $100k than buying and holding a Rivian for collectable value.

The quad, pre price hike, is an incredible value. The gen 1 quad will certainly not increase in value, however I don't anticipate much future depreciation, considering a gen 2 trimotor is $100k and an enduro quad is $110k+.
