I just noticed this on my R1T. It has been sitting, supposedly asleep, Gear Guard off. There is clearly some electrical activity around the rain sensor. Thoughts? Also, a side note picture: I sure wish I could do this with my wiper blades.

Also, is this "camera" behind rear view solely for reading lanes, vehicles, etc. Or could it potentially be used as the dash cam that everyone, myself included, desperately desire?

The Munro teardown showed heater wires running to the windshield. I believe they were called out for the wiper area, but it's possible they also run up to the camera area. It makes sense to keep those areas free of snow/ice so the wipers/camera work when you need to start driving.

FWIW noticed the same on mine in the snow (the upper center area of the windshield melts off). Does anyone not have this behavior?

Perhaps you can report this to Rivian?

If this is not intentional, then it could be a problem with your vehicle, or it could be something that contributes to the vampire drain on everyone's vehicle. Regardless, if they don't know about it they can't address the issue.
Thanks for the link. It's clearly happening to everyone. I'm sure the power loss in nominal. But it surely adds to the other quirks and quarks that are active or being activated even while thr truck is "sleeping". Anyone know the best place to report this to Riv (even though they're obviously watching this forum)?

When I pulled the plastic cover off that hides all the wiring and gadgets in the rearview mirror area in order to install a hardwired power cable for my V1 radar detector, I noticed that there is an aluminum box mounted to the windshield that was quite warm. Apparently it's constantly consuming power given the photos above.
