Praise for the R1T frunk!

I live in Portland Maine and my wife and I are in the process of moving from the west side to the east side of the Portland peninsula. My R1T, “Magnus”, proved very handy during the move. Certainly for moving a lot of our stuff, but especially as a mobile tool cabinet. I put most of my tools in the frunk which served very nicely as an ergonomic, mobile space for the tools. This made them readily available at our old house for disassembling things and at our new house for reassembling them.

Our moving process became slightly less sucky as a result.

According to my daughter, I moving. She made me a shirt that says that. I guess she thinks that because I moved my son 8 times while in college and my daughter 10-12 times while she was in college. To her, there must be a correlation between how many time you do something and how much you "love" it.

Bruh, I hear you about the college moving. Three out of four of my kids currently are in college all across the northeast.

I golf a lot, and with every past car, my clubs lived in the trunk or rear hatch all summer. It was a pain to have that space compromised. Now my bag is out of the way in the frunk. You can fit two bags if needed. I drove six golfers over the 4th in my R1S. One rear seat folded down held 4 bags, two in the frunk and seating for six--pretty amazing.

The Frunk is the single most useful thing to come out of EV adoption. I use my constantly. At this point, I won’t consider another family vehicle that doesn’t have one. I would only consider something like a sports car that I drive occasionally.

Coincidentally, I’ve been shopping for a toy on Bring A Trailer and Cars and Bids. I’m not addicted to watching the last few minutes of these auctions. There is something very entertaining when a bidding war breaks out in those last couple of minutes.

At least you have a truck to move them. We had a mini van when my kids were in college.

Get thee a 12/120V cooler and put it in the trunk/bed and never look back . Just did around 8 days of adventuring with a Bodega split cooler in the back of the R1S.....it was magic.

I have never noticed any of my backpacking emergency kit gear like bivy, clothing, etc getting wet

1000% in my experience (with non-stop torrential rain).

Congrats! Can’t speak to golf bag, but I keep all manner of boat supplies, camp gear, etc in there for extended periods of time without water ingress.

Perfectly weather-tight. Not a drop gets in--rain or snow.
