I thought about it but in the end once they let us get a Gen2 I knew would kick myself for letting such a deal slip by.

I sound like my wife after buying some crazy expensive purse saying "but it was on sale!"

I also think Rivian missed out by forcing us to buy from the shop as I would've spent considerably more if I could have made a custom build. Or maybe they lose even more per each vehicle sold...

The idea there are still remaining perks for 'early' reservation holders is nuts! Rivian has been more than reasonable! It's been 2.5 years since the price hikes. It's time for everyone to move on!

I cannot wait for October 1! Then we can see what the real supply/demand for R1 actually is.

• Decreasing loss per vehicle assumes ramping production rates along with cost cutting.
• But if they want to ramp production they will have to ramp demand...
• There is a smaller and smaller pool of people who will order ever-increasing trim/drivetrain combinations...

The co worker who put my wife onto wanting an R1S isn't following thru with his preorder, but he's apparently the kind of guy who has to have absolutely the latest, greatest thing, so he's getting some sort of electric BMW instead.

Wife just wanted to be in something large and nice (apparently the Mazda CX-9 that we got when her LR4 started being British and leaving a quart of oil a week on the driveway wasn't cutting it), and the preorder price (and Max battery financing rate) made it reasonable for her to get into a vehicle of that class again. We literally took delivery today, and other than being weirded out by the level of Regen when she takes her foot off the accelerator, seems happy enough so far.

Lol.. my POS TR7 actually belched up (best way to describe it) oil one evening all over the driveway, about a quart's worth going by how much I had to refill the next day ?

Thanks. Yeah, I'm aware there's a ton of stuff we can adjust, just haven't had time yet. Literally just sat in the driver's seat for the first time now to back it into the garage; my car is on the right (for now), so with the Rivian's charging port on the left it's less of a reach to back the car in.

We'll see if my wife takes to that or if my GTi ends up swapping parking bays with her. The overhead view was kinda awesome though for getting the car straight and well spaced.

I just picked up my gen2 R1T after reserving 6 years ago! Loving it so far. I actually had a second voucher for an R1S and tried to convince my brother in law to use it, but he passed so that voucher will just expire.

It’s a lot to learn for sure. Those of us who had been waiting for a while in the beginning had nothing better to do than read the owner’s guide over and over while waiting for our Rivian order to come up? There are a ton of smart people here and lots of info already shared so don’t hesitate to ask when you have questions.
