Mine does this occasionally, too. It's especially annoying when I line up my hitch under the trailer and the truck adjusts its height after I get out to attach the hitch to the ball (but before I can plug in in the harness to enable trailer mode).

Please, don't put in a ticket for this. It is more common than these folks make it sound. My truck has been doing it for the last 57k miles and it's very normal. No, I don't have kneel on, and it doesn't get as low as kneel height anyway. No, there isn't a way to make it stop or prevent it. Yes, it happens at stop lights and when I get out at various points of the day.

Why does it happen? Speculate away, but here are my theories:
-Adjusting after high-speed aero shifts
-Gyro detects unlevel plane, pre-programmed to correct for whatever reasons
-It ate a big burrito when you weren't looking and had to let out a mean one (see below from over the summer)
-Letting out built-up air in the bags to prevent blowout when it's hot outside

This is NOT normal.

Kneel mode is not on. The suspension adjustment occured about 20 seconds after I parked, exited the vehicle and opened the frunk. My vehicle always makes random height adjustments. I could be stopped at a light or parked on the side of the street. You can hear the suspension adjusting and feel the height on certain corners lift or drop. It literally occurs on almost every drive. But this time it occurred after I parked exited and turned off (auto off by exiting) the vehicle. Never noticed it adjusting after leaving the vehicle before but that's maybe because it wasn't attacking my knee.
It sounds as if there is some kind of a setting on Auto somewhere. My R1S very seldom makes any hissing noises or height adjustments; everything suspension set to off and permanently crazy-glued on All Purpose, standard height.

There is just something unsettling about all those reepeated suspension-related noises. Beckoning the SC and your wallet.

I'm 6'-3". Not particularly short. As noted in my original post, I was parked on an 8-10% grade with a rounded top. So the front end was perched high.
Makes sense I missed the grade part.

My R1T did this early on. It went away (or significantly reduced) after a software update. The behavior appears to have returned with 47.01

It is very noticeable now.
+1 on my R1S after 47.01.

I have auto for ride height and auto kneel and I don't think the vehicle has ever adjusted the ride height after I exited the vehicle.

I've only had it height adjust when I stop for the first time after I start driving or after I exit the freeway.

Seems like a reset or a service is in needed.

I'll chime in and say that my R1S will occasionally make height adjustments when parked.

Sometimes when the hatch is open and I'm sitting on the tailgate or loading something in, it'll make a small adjustment since I'm adding weight. Sometimes when I open the rear passenger door to load my son in, it may make a small adjustment too.

Been doing that since I got the R1S over a year ago.

Is there a way to disable the self leveling on a Rivian? Today after I parked my R1S on an 8-10% grade rounded incline I opened my frunk and was rummaging through my toolbag. Out of nowhere the Rivian started to drop an inch or so. The top of my kneecap was pushed up firmly and resting against the bottom of the tow hook. If I didn't push off immediately after I sensed it starting to drop I could have been seriously injured. I always thought it was a useless and unnecessary feature that wasted electricity and added wear and tear on the suspension system. But now I can say it's a serious safety concern. After I park and leave my vehicle it should absolutely not change its height or position unless I want it to. If there isn't a way to turn this off Rivian needs to provide the option.
You likely have an air leak in the suspension. Submit a service ticket and they'll take care of it.
