Nope, it does t fully help. I can still hear relays clicking even with proximity of. At least it doesn't turn on the motors/pumps etc.
Yeah, I know hat your looking for. It’s what I would like too. there is no ideal solution currently.

Go to "camp mode" you can turn stuff off so it doesn't wake all the way up..

At this price point most people expect those kinds of creature comforts.

Think of it as an expensive puppy who gets excited every time you walk past his leash on the wall?
Having all your systems boot up when you open a door is a creature comfort? And what does price point have to do with this? A $40k Tesla does the same thing.

Once again you miss the point (what a surprise).

Think harder or ask an adult to explain it to you. I’ve already wasted enough time on you.

This is for sure not just an EV thing. My wifes 2014 Ford fiesta st did this a little, you could hear all the Whizz/pop/click of a vehicle waking up. Same thing with my 2016 GTI. Ive also rented a tundra about a year and a half ago. That thing went nuts when it woke up. You could probably turn some of the exterior, interior lights off, but it didnt just wake up, it tried to wake up the whole neighborhood with dings and stadium lighting.

Agreed, I hate that the whole car wakes up when I just need to grab something. But not worried about the car, hardwired a dashcam and the first one already failed on me, so the less power cycles on this replacement, the better. Wish they waited until the drivers seat is occupied.
Why do you have a dash cam? Gear guard seems to check that box.

As a matter of habit, when parking in my garage, I turn off the radio/audio, turn off the A/C and unlock all doors. That seems to reduce some of the 'start up activity' when opening a door. The one part that does bug me is the constant suspension adjustments that occur when you open a door or walk by. The air pump running and the valves clicking when I'm not driving seems excessive.. But since it is by design, I try not to worry about it too much.

Same. I turn everything off and remove all garbage. Guess what I get into when my wife parks the car? Everything still on, garbage everywhere... but in her defense she's got other stuff to worry about whereas I'm just OCD about vehicles in general. I also typically close the app or disable bluetooth so the vehicle doesn't go through its wake up process when I'm working in the garage.

@WhidbeyIsland, just noticed your name. How long have you had your R1T? Context: Used to live in Bellevue, originally had Glacier White on order. Back when R1s were still super rare we were on the ferry to Whidbey and saw a limestone R1T get onboard. That's when my wife asked me to change up the config. Around July 2022. Ended up also seeing a Canyon Red R1T when we were on the island.

The air suspension compressor is a real nuisance having it adjust every time the car is started. Now it's even worse being forced into automatic mode. It constantly changes ride heights while I'm driving in LA traffic. If it's an EPA requirement due to efficiency then I want it part of the drivetrain warranty because it's essentially an emissions component at that point.

And here I was thinking this thread was going to be about your odometer rising by itself in the garage.

@citizen I picked up my R1T (yes, Limestone) in November 2023. And yes, there is a Canyon Red R1T on the south end as well. I believe that was the first Rivian on Whidbey from what I remember.

Too many times I’ve tried to start a vehicle only to find someone either left a dome light on or a door ajar the night before. Turning off everything is a habit but it can pay off in the long run. Or at least that is what I tell myself.

Probably in the minority here, but I agree with you ?. It's unnecessary waste.

Don't need the screens, HVAC, suspension, etc., to turn on every time I open a door to toss something in. I've taken to popping the frunk & gear tunnel doors with the app, just so I don't have to wait for everything else to unlock all the time. ?
