I received my invite a week ago but its been a bit of a back and forth to get a few questions answered before I finalize everything. Plus I was scheduled to do a demo drive this past weekend.

I want to place an order but I will be traveling starting later in July for a few weeks. I was hoping I could place an order now and receive it in the next four weeks but I know that may not be possible. I also offered flexibility to be able to pickup at the factory in early August.

It seems that the recommendation is for me to wait until I am on my trip to order or until I come back as they cannot guarantee a delivery time window which is unfortunate.

It would have been nice to have the vehicle prior to my trip as its a cross country drive and I would have taken the R2 for the trip.

Also, that impacts the value they offered for trade-in which has an expiration date and may change by the time of delivery.

Any other options available to change delivery location/date once they assign a VIN?

What did give you for your trade-in?. We have a Gen1 R1T and love it, but we would like to trade it in when we get the invite

Just order it. My two cents is to never take a brand new vehicle (specially brand new model year) on a road trip. Any problems, specially with EVs, will show up early and a road trip is not a good time to find out about those. Order it now and they may have it upon your return and you would be able to enjoy it then!

I agree that is probably not the best time but I've done this before. I've been roadtripping EV's since the Model 3 in 2018. I did just under 20,000 miles in three months on a massive roadtrip when the Model Y was first released with no issues. Not to say I won't encounter some, but I'm not too overly concerned.

My issue is that they stated I have 7 days to pickup the vehicle when a delivery date is scheduled. How flexible are they in pushing that date? If the vehicle ends up being scheduled at the end of my first week of a three week trip, can I push delivery for two weeks?

For all I know it could be available in 3 weeks, 5 weeks or 8 weeks. Before or after the trip is fine, if its during the trip where I may be gone up to 4 weeks, that is the concern.

Ah, gotcha. Didn't know know about the delivery date not being very flexible. That I don't know for certain. Kind of shocking they can make us wait an arbitrary amount for a vehicle but god forbid they hold it for a few days. Then in that case, I don't know. Sorry.

I was quoted just under $46k for my 2022 R1T with about 52k miles. I was quoted about $22k for my 2021 Model Y with close to 90k miles.

Not bad and similar to what Carvana offered (but better if you include the sales tax benefit). The concern is that those values can change if the delivery is 4-8 weeks away.

Summer is peak used car values as that is when everyone buys. So I am hoping forest green and coastal cloud are released ASAP so I can sell my current car before values go down. Happened to me last time when I was unable to sell until December, value tanked from summertime.

Just order. Given the huge window on delivery timelines (4-8 weeks in our case), there’s really no way to plan on when you will be taking delivery. Rivian knows this and will offer flexibility on scheduling delivery when the timeline narrows.
