Interesting, in that case Rivian could not offer a software upgrade from to Performance after the fact.
Thats no different than tesla. On the smaller pack DM you can't get the P boost. This is the same reason on the SR pack you can't get 20" rims.

Again, that is not making sense to me. it is a risk to take what is likely your highest volume volume configuration and change it to a low volume configuration, in the hoax that people will accept a three motor in its place. I'm not seeing that.
Think of it as buying a flashlight that puts 800 lumins one two AA batteries. That same flashlight has the ability to put out 1000 lumin on the 4v rechargeable cell.
The max battery can put more power to the motors than the large pack.
it does not make sense for Rivian to make a smaller battery pack that has to be re-engineered so that it can produce the power for 1000 hp for the few people that would choose to have a smaller battery pack with 1000 hp. Most people, May included would buy the largest battery pack. I could buy with 1025 hp set up. I would’ve gladly paid extra if my 835 hp set up could have had a max battery pack.

These were the specs of the Lauch Edition Quad with off road. 314 Miles, HP was 835.

4 wheel, per wheel, torque control.

I don’t understand this thread. What is the complaint exactly? I just see posting of specs and saying something about Tri not being Quad but I don’t get what the big gap in the product line is.

If I'm understanding this correctly, it would be like Chevy offering a C8 e-ray with a de-tuned V8 for less money? Nobody would buy this, there are other C8 options that make more sense just like nobody would buy the proposed de-tuned quad.

I own a quad. . . They still offer a quad. Less what? What is the issue?
In relation to the Tri, you get less torque contolled weels, way less value.

In relation to the not yet available Quad Max. You get much less attrative package. Who was asking for 2.5 seconds with street tires? Bring on the lightning bolt decals :). OK, hold your brake, ruin tires. WEEEEEEEE. That will be 30 grand.

Uhh, okay. Well, I guess you’ll just have to be dissatisfied that they haven’t made a quad that is exactly what you wanted at exactly the price you preferred. I don’t follow at all what you are complaining about (why do you need this torque controlled wheel? What is your use case that this is posing an issue for?). No need to answer, I am alllllll set with this thread.

Incorrect, they have made it up until now and I have been satisfied. I have enjoyed my first one since it arrived as a first day purchaser. I am hoping that they have this sorted before my incoming 2024 Quad is ready for replacement.

If Rivian offered the dual motor in the beginning I would have gotten that over the quad and I bet I'm not alone. The dual motor version is the most popular.
