R1 Shop for R1S?

Does anyone recall how long between delivering non employees R1T's to when the R1T shop openend? That same time (or less) woudl be my guess.

My piss poor memory tells me that the first R1T non employee delivery was around March 2022 and the R1S shop opened around June 2022. But hopefully someone else with a better memory or can do the research (maybe I will even try that)

EDIT: did the research myself. At least by the threads on this forum, the dates I listed are correct. I am going to GUESS that reservations are less for the R1S than R1T, so that could shorten the window....but God knows if they are going to push out R1S at the same rate they do R1T, so in the end, who knows?

The R1 Shop was first announced in an email from Tony Caravano on June 6. He noted that Rivian had "tested this approach" in May. I assume they can skip the testing phase for R1Ss.

The June 6 email also said, "we’ll continue to add invites on a rolling basis weighing factors like preorder date, current configuration, and vehicle availability." I'll be interested to see how they weigh preorder date versus current configuration. For example, will this thread's OP (with a preorder date of 6/19 and current Adventure configuration) get access to the R1 Shop before or after someone who preordered in 6/20 with a Launch Edition configuration? And will the OP get access to Launch Edition vehicles in the R1 shop?

Per original order data from poll on this forum that had a pretty good response rate, ratio was 55:45 T:S.

However, I think a fair number of people swapped to Ts when they found out a possibly long delay awaited them. No way to measure this though.

Other thing to consider is that if there are 30k (making up a number) S preorders waiting, how long will it take to build all those vehicles since it'll be sharing lines with the T? I know ramp up is happening, but no one said an equal number of Ts and Ss will be produced. RIvian may decide it is just easier to build primarily Ts because they have that system better nailed down. So there may not be any Ss to put in the Shop for a while.

I’m hopeful with the R1 shop it will help churn through inventory quickly. It seems fully operational at this point. Seems like it has really helped the R1T rollout for those willing to compromise. I have my ideal config but flexible for any interior, especially with the updates to Ocean Coast.

Im hoping the R1S shop comes quickly too, but I am not optimistic we will see it earlier than the R1T shop came about. I am flexible on exterior colors and would love to have a LE, and would take that over my ideal config if it got me an R1S this year

I spoke to my guide today and he indicated that all R1S's currently in production are being made to order (assuming through December window). I assume that means no R1 shop for R1S for the forseeable future.... take that with a grain of salt.

From Tony's email on June 6th: "The R1 Shop has been created to allow you to look at vehicles that are available due to last-minute order changes from other customers as well as our intentional use of batching for some of our more popular combinations."

So, should we assume that there won't be any last-minute R1S order changes or R1S batching for several weeks ... or months?
