With government trying to go green and cut operational cost. EVs may be in serious demand for public sector. R1S has lower center of gravity and higher acceleration and ground clearance than Ford Explorer. It may not be as bullet proof as CT in it’s standard form but it is likely more effective in a chase due to it’s dimensions and can fit a K9 in much better. If Elon is reading this, we may get a new tweet that CT will have a SUV version too. Let’s just hope if there is a government order, we are not pushed back in line. What do you guys think? Does a police car need to look more angry than R1S? Frankly I think the criminal may stop for a coffee with the officer because of R1S’s friendly look instead of running and shooting.
Side note: The first police car was a BEV in Akron, Ohio in 1899. The Collins Buddy Company produced the car for $2,400. The dual motor 5000 lb electric car had the top speed of 18 mph and a range of 30 miles.
