For reference I got a quote locally for vinyl wrap (metal strip delete) for $350.

Yes!!! This is exactly what I'm planning to do to mine. Wheels and roof trim. I'm getting El Cap.

I'm debating DIY on roof trim. What did the trim cost you?

It was $350 list for the vinyl, but I got it for $250 as it was my third car through their shop for tint work in the last few months.

I am normally Capt. Plastidip on my older cars, but I went big here.

Looks great! Oddly enough the chrome delete makes the R1S appear larger, maybe the chrome added the appearance of more of a taper towards the back.

Love the satin metal blackout. Taking mine in on Tuesday near Chicago. Will post before and after by weeks end. I’m also getting tint, front ppf and ceramic so they need 3 full days minimum.

Dissenting voice here…glad you like it. Some like blue some like green. To each their own. I find the brushed strip gives the eye a better sight line and definition to the bulbous black rear window section. I think this is a bit different than a typical “chrome delete” Tesla. It’s also brushed, not 1981 chrome. Not for me, but again glad you’re happy and excited!

Anyone tried this DIY yet? Looks fairly simple so surprised no one has attempted (though I also recognize for a $70k+ car, paying a couple hundred professionally also makes sense..)
