Now this makes me jealous, I am only 2 days behind you and I got 2nd half :) Grant it that means you're in June and I'm in July, but still...

I ordered my R1S in mid-September 2021 , unfortunately my delivery window is saying first half of 2023.
Based on the (easier to track and more accurate) Google form that another-great-forum had, other persons who ordered at a similar time actually got 2022 delivery dates.

As I mentioned on this forum before, if Volvo, Audi or Genesis release their BEV before Rivian, then I will be switching cancelling my order for the R1S.

July 2021 order
First half 2023 delivery, Seattle area
Compass Yellow and Forest Edge Interior
7 seat, Adventure

At least with this delivery date we’ll have the opportunity to test drive the car, see color and interior options, and even get better information on upcoming competition.

Volvo XC90 BEV is due in 2023. I expect Ford to announce an Explorer in the next 12 months, even if not available until much later. Kia is coming out with some interesting SUVs. There will be a lot to consider between now and summer 2023.

I'm not super upset that my order is in 2023. I'm actually kind of happy as I should have my Lucid by then and can determine if I want to wait on the Gravity or continue with the R1S. Either way, more communication is better even if the windows for 2023 are 6 months in size. I'm sure they'll shrink once we're closer to the delivery timeframe.

How do I see the results w/o filling out that form? I don't know where the form came from and I am afraid of sending my email address to somewhere random

I removed the link. People can find it on their own.
Just so you know, the Google form was from https://s00n.rivianstories.com/feed.

From the guys that run the YouTube channel Rivian Stories.

This is why the survey i created and is linked around this forum does not ask for identifiable information. They do not need that info to collect configuration data.

Second half of 2023
R1S Adventure trim 7 seat, FG + FE, 21"
Seattle, WA
11/9/2021 order
Interesting. I am in the Seattle area and ordered right when you did but an Explore package and also got second half of '23.. I guess changing to a Adventure trim won't make any sooner.

Nobody that needs a 3 row suv will be canceling with the lack of alternatives for quite awhile.
Same thing goes for those that want an adventure vehicle that isn’t a truck.
Those that can get away with a sedan I can see canceling if they want something sooner as options are definitely there but not sure how many preorder holders ordered with that criteria either.
So the deal is if you NEED a 3 row configuration SUV AND an EV, then Rivian may be it for now. Additionally, if you NEED this so much so that you're willing to wait another 12~24 months, depending on when you've preordered it.

There are conventional (ICE/PHEV) options that can fill the need and do so with much more robust range, towing and hauling capabilities. As a Model 3 owner for 3+ years, I fully understand and appreciate EVs but to argue that people won't take the alternative, in my mind, is not realistic.

Lets just play with the numbers. 71k preorders. how many of those do you believe will convert to actual orders? I highly doubt it but lets say Rivian only experiences 20% cancellation rate (its very low) or 14k preorders. Subtract that from 71k and now they have orders roughly 57k to clear the backlog.

The point I made in my original post was that some of those waiting for 2023 first half will move into late 2022, and 2nd half of 2023 will move into 1st half.

I believe you may be thinking about the whole situation bit too close to your own situation and not from macro economic sense. There are viable alternatives today and more will be available over the next 12~24 months, if you consider people's patience, affordability and immediate/near-term needs.

Rivian better pick up speed on getting the R1S out in numbers. Competition IS coming and some people may not want to wait another 2-3 years!! I was just at the Audi eTron Q8 focus group a week ago and another for Porsche/Audi/Bentley a few months back. The eTron Q8 looks imminent and pricing will be near R1S with what looks like better tech and range. The Porsche/Bentley pricing was not shared, but I'd expect it to be higher and availability a little later. The eTron Q8 looked good and we were given the impression that this model would be released sometime in the near future. Customers will have options! Of course, during the focus group, I stated that I still would not cancel my R1S pre-order even after seeing the eTron as I prefer the boxy shape of the R1S vs the more smooth shape of the Audi. That still holds true now that I received my delivery window of first half of 2023!!
