The expert XPEL installer for my two other EVs taught me how to wash them using the waterless approach. I use a bucket of water mixed in with Opti-Coat No Rinse The Ultimate. Uising a sponge I wipe each car down, a small area at a time, body, windows, wheels. Then I spray a little bit of Opti Coat Hyper Seal solution on each area as I go and wipe it dry with microfiber cloth.

The EVs come out spotless, super clean, and the Opti-Coat Hyper Seal makes them incredibly hydrophobic. Just about everything comes right off easily because of the ceramic coating on PPF.
I never, under any circumstance, will take my EVs to a carwash, let alone wash them with any detergent/soap and lots of water. No way. Opti-Coat only.
Will do exactly the same for my R1S.
As for the film, my other EVs are 3 and 2 years old. PFF on each has no issues whatsoever; no peeling, no shrinkage, no fading. And each still looks mighty shiny, better than when brand-new without PPF.
The PPF on one of my EVs (has 8 mil) did take a hit from something on the road and punctured it, very small tiny hole. No big deal. Self-healing might heal scratches, not impacts from objects. In all, much better for the PPF to take it on the chin than the body paint.

As for warranty, the PPF has pretty much a lifetime warranty. Both installers told me that, should something ever happen to the film, to just bring it in.

In my experience, definitely go with 10 mill PPF instead of 8. It offers better protection.
