Brand new R1S, charging on my trusty Tesla Gen3 wall charger, with a Lectron J1772-NACS adaptor, gives me the dreaded “vehicle error - unplug and try again” about (30) minutes into a charge for the past couple of nightly charges. Screenshot is attached.

Each time, playing with the app and starting/re-starting charging lets it run to completion with no issues.

This same EVSE works like a champ on various other Tesla & non-Tesla (using same adaptor) EVs.

Is this a signal of defective charging module or bad things to come, or more likely a software fault?

I get this identical issue with my factory charger. Really annoying. Wondering if it’s charger or car related.
Also a Gen2? (Curious as there seem to have been software issues, and fixes, related to this some back with the Gen1s…)

Welcome to the party pal. Mine throttles down to about 5kW after an hour with a reputable adapter. It’s a Rivian thing. All the fanboys will blame your wall charger. Your wall charger is fine, and I’m sure your Tesla is fine right? Mine is as always. Rivian’s thermals suck ass and the battery throttles the speeds. That’s if you can get it to work at all like you are dealing with

Gen 2 here as well with the same issue. I have a mobile service appt tomorrow (for other items) and will bring this up to see what they say.

I’ve also had the charge stop in the middle of the night and then just start up hours later and finish up.

Gen 2 standard pack here.

Mine has had all the L2 charging glitches mentioned above plus other random ones. I'm never sure if it's related to the incoming voltage being on the low end. My charger is at a commercial building so it is 208VAC and there is some voltage drop when pulling the full 48A. It may only be about 203V more or less. Not sure what is the minimum L2 voltage that the car can accept.

I have also had the car just stop charging and act like it reached the preset charging %, but I am nowhere near the preset charge limit. This randomly happens, sometimes multiple times in a charge session, so I have no idea if it's a hardware problem or software.

Hopefully all these issues are software fixable.

You've been running around in here whining about your Rivian. Why did you buy it? You are clearly in love with Elon it sounds like you should have gotten a CT.

I have a recently delivered Gen 2 R1S with the A2Z adapter on a Tesla Gen 3 HPWC. Works great and has charged past 30 minutes. Also, the car has charged from 50%-85% at 11kw without throttling.

Lmao. I did want a CT. You got me there. Has nothing to do with Elon though. He lives rent free in your liberal head, not mine.

Have you tried putting the Tesla HPWC in Compatibility Mode?
