I had to get a tire patched at Discount Tire today. They didn’t know where their pucks were, so I offered mine, along with my non-marring socket, both of which I keep in the lower part of the cargo area (where the compact spare would reside). When I retrieved them, everything there was wet, to the point that a small cardboard box was falling apart and mold was beginning to form on work gloves that I kept there. We received a ton of rain in SoCal last week and I presume water was splashed up from underneath the truck. The rest of the cabin and cargo area is dry and good. Has anyone else experienced this?

Another member earlier reported his spare area had 4” of water and had ruined the compressor for his air suspension… wasn’t clear where the water had come from. Can’t recall exact post title but it was something related to suspension.

Most likely a seal for the lift gate not doing it's job. Rivian will fix it but I'd suggest attempting to get the area less wet in the meantime.

I had the same issue on my R1S, when it was less than 2 weeks old. Service Center did a hydro test and found 4 areas of water infiltration. They replaced some seals, and everything has been fine since. However, it doesn't fill me with confidence, and I no longer put anything in that area that cannot get wet.

That was my April/23 R1S that is having that same problem and is currently at the Eastvale SC waiting for a solution.

Started with a loud farting/bubbling noise when going into kneel mode coming from the rear of the vehicle. This was a few days after the big rains. Next day the car would no longer go up or down and showed suspension type failures. This included proximity sensors , crash avoidance, lane keeping and auto highbeam warnings. Day after that, it would no longer go into drive and had drive system failure warnings. About an hour before the tow truck arrived, I was cleaning out the back and wanted to take one final look at my shiny new spare that was installed 2 weeks prior. The cavity with the spare had 4 " of water and I'm assuming the area below the spare where the compressor and body control harness was located was probably under water.

I should have seen the signs when my R1S was trying to tell me he was literally drowning...
