To ease pain in your thigh and lower back, try adjusting the seat height to level your hips and knees, and make sure the lumbar support suits your lower back curve. These small tweaks can make a big difference in comfort during your rides. i usually consider a seat cushion or lumbar

Buttons on the side of the seats?
Wait! There's buttons on the side??!! On a more serious note can the OP look online for "best seat positions?" As others have noted-there are so many variables that go into what someone considers comfortable, it's impossible for us to give you good advice on a particular position/setting. All the best.

Assuming this is directed at me, it’s not really a back soreness issue. It’s an “ass tired” issue. Like when you sit on bleachers or a hard surface. I’ve played with the seat positioning for the back/thigh comfort and I think I am generally there, but the old rump is feeling it from the firmness.

Just wondering If people have noticed the seats soften up. Otherwise, I will just eat a ton and get more cushioning in my butt.

I just checked after months of pain - and I noticed that my driver seat bottom leans to the left.

I first noticed that I tend to sit about 1/2 inch to the left of the center line. That lead me to look at the lower seat more for the source of the pain.

Using camp mode (leveling) and a box of water (for weight) and a level, I can say for sure that my driver seat is more firm on the right and softer (lower) on the left.

I've done a facebook post on this:

I'd love to hear from other who check - find out if this is a design issues (it is how it should be) or if it's a defect (can be adjusted or replaced).

Our R1S only has 2000 miles so far and Initially I thought the firm seats would be a problem. I recently took a few hundred mile trip in an R1T loaner with 8k miles and I felt great after the long drive. Although stiff, I think the seats help my posture a little. So, our other cars with plush seats, leave me feeling overly tired after long drives. I'm 5' 10", 195 in decent athletic shape and if everyone keeps quiet in the back seats, I usually resist the rest breaks.

I am struggling mightily with these seats. I find them extremely uncomfortable. 30 min of driving = lower body soreness. I’ve tried a ton of different positions. If they don’t soften up a bit, unsure what I will do.

Look down when you are seated and make sure the trim line is centered between your legs, that helped me a lot. I also now put a little foam piece under my left side. That has made a world of difference.

I have service call next month to look at my seat. I'll let you guys here know if they find anything.

You ever try tilting the seats? I find that with the butt end tilted down and the thighs slightly higher it allows pressure more evenly between my ass and upper thighs.

Sorry to resurrect an old post. But I’m curious for those who found the seats uncomfortable if they soften to become more comfortable overtime. I find the seats hard and I generally like a firm seat. But even after 30 minutes of driving, I find soreness in my lower body. I’m just curious if that’ll soften overtime.

other cars are a Volvo, XC90 which has fantastic seats had a Tesla model Y that had mediocre seats
I have not found the seats to ‘wear-in’ nor have I found them to be worthy of the price tag asked by riv for the r1 chassis.

I've had mine a year and 11.500 miles and they're still firm. I just had a 200 mile road trip this past weekend and my back, butt, and hamstrings were all sore as hell by the end of it. These are just too firm.

I’ve moved the seat around and found a relatively happy place. I do agree they are too firm, but I drove up to VT (About 3 hours) and didn’t have any issues like I had before. Maybe play around a bit with the positioning - I agree with the suggestion from Donald about seat tilt. Seemed to help.

I did not realize that I was not sitting centered until this post. Made a difference I was feeling the ridge on front right of seat on back of leg above knee. Centering on the seat reduced the pressure from the ridge on seat. I have also found that sliding butt all the way back into the seat helps keep you planted into seat. I also keep my heel almost touching the bottom of the accelerator pedal and pivot foot from heel instead of pushing with toes helps a lot too.

The cockpit seating is critical to me. I dislike the Lucid and the Tesla S. I like the arm rests, the ability to move the seats and steering wheel where I want them on the R1S. The seats are hard to me but not a deal breaker. The ride on city streets and the acceleration are difficult on me. One of the reasons to have the R1S, I may not be able to use.

What tires do you have? 20s are more comfy than the 22s.
